Please spellcheck and correct my grammar

Since i joined this site i have asked for advice on quite a few things and tried to take part in some of the discussions and polls etc.

I've received a lot of help and advice and have learned some good things while here, which i am sincerely grateful for.

But why does nearly every thread turn into a discussion on proper grammar and spell-checking? I'm sure there are other sites where all you linguistic obsessives can yarn away 'til the small hours.

There seems to be around 20% good, helpful, entertaining content and 80% nit-picking BS. And to be honest i'm fed up of trying to trawl through the crap to get to the good stuff, so i'm thinking of not bothering anymore.

Maybe i'm just in a bad mood?

This may be bad timing... but your "i" 's are meant to have capitals.

EDIT: I completely agree. So much BS on these forums.

    Your
contribution to an interesting thread was to call someone a "cunt" and a "moron".

I gave you a hard time because of the tenor of your outburst, not your grammar. The fact that you don't use capital letters just made you look a bigger pratt.

    Is the waaaambulance needed?

Essentially, if you want people to read what you have to say. Putting abit of effort into correct grammer and spelling isn't asking a hell of alot.

I think this forum does a pretty bang up job of keeping that in check and makes reading the forums alot more enjoyable.

    It's a simple courtesy thing.
Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
    Let him who hath understanding
Reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty six.

FOR SALE: '88 Yamaha FZX 750, low k's and decent condition. Looking for around 4.5K. Drop us a pm, view it any time. Oh, and trades considered for cruisers or naked sporties.

No, my contribution was a few posts up if you care to read it. Maybe you might even spot a spelling mistake or two that you and katman can ponder over at your geeks anonymous meetings.
The fact that you reply to this thread and pick me up on my use of capital letters is hilarious. And using acronyms like HTFU makes you look like a bigger geek!

I see the post in question has gone to PD.
That's probably where this thread is heading.

I do apologise for the use of the HTFU acronym.
I should have rendered it in lower case htfu - is that better?

One day enlightenment will come, and those that profess to love the English language so much will understand that its a tool for communication and not a giant book of rules to prove their perceived superiority.

If understanding and communication has taken place then the language has worked perfectly, No matter if they used your or you're. The universe doesn't give a shit.

Actually it was in regard to lack of capitals. But, I digress. In regard to the HTFU acronym - It may make the author look like a geek, it primarily identifies the recipient as a whining blouse.

Now - can we stop this shit fight.

I employ a 'can be arsed' quotient proportional to the dribble content of my posting.

If pure dribble - near enough - good enough.

If salient or professional - best efforts.

In the end it's self expression and often wrong is funnier.

Truedat. You can't have it both ways Oscar - Chastising someone for lazy use of the vernacular (non-capitalised "i"s) and then yourself using geekspeak acronyms.

You got burned. Shame on your undies
