Koba at Taupo Road Race Spectacular.

2008 was my first time at the TRRS and it was MINT!
I qualified well, which is unusual for me. First practice put me 2nd on the grid behind Jason Cameron.

In both of the sunday races I got off the line OK but was still outgunned into turn one by Jason on the NSR150 and Paddy (Speights_bud) on his RG.

I held 3rd for the entire race in both of them except one bit which I will get to.

I need to work on finding 100% power out of mine because trying as had as I could pushing it around every corner Paddy and Jason pissed off into the distance.

Race one saw these two neck and neck until the end with the NSR having a bit more poke in a straight line but Paddy gaining on corner speed.
I could make back a wee bit of ground under brakes sometimes by being behind and being able to see where they were braking.

This race had an interesting finish which I will leave for Patrick to tell and Kyle to post a vid of.

The second race had an amazing battle between Paddy and Jason for first, it was neat to watch them from behind rubbing fairings and both giving it their all to beat the other.

The end of the second race for me happend in turn one, as I had crossed the start finish I thought "I have to pull somthing out here - it's now or never"
I entered turn one and gave it shit a bit earlier than normal and the back began to slide.
"no worries" I thought, I rode it out a bit and recovered it with my main thought being: "Shit that lost heaps of time, maybe I AM on the limit and should just hold my placing".

    So on the gas again,

    More slide,

WOW it really came around then!

The front lost grip too and I was thinking "shit, this really could hurt"

with both wheels sliding the bike scrubbed off lots of speed and gripped at the last moment for a relativley gentle highside.

    AND AVALON GOT PICS!!
Thats me 'on the cover' of the gallery called "THAT HAS TO HURT!"

It did hurt a wee bit but nothing major.

After all this happend I got the bike off the track and the Trudes got pranged so the race got red flagged, because it went back to the last full lap I came home with third place!!

    Cheers to:
    Trudes
The rest of the bucket crew,
The skunks for the Pitgarage and trailer sorting!
    F5Dave for the advice
The Oganisers for a BRILLIANT event, I cant wait 'till next year!
    The marshals
Duke Girl for not running me over, good reactions!
Hells for putting up with me and coping with not racing.
Number one for missioning it up to watch.
Weaver for making sure the post crashed bike was sorted
Patrick and Jason for the great competition, you guys are both bloody good, I hope to be a bit more of a challenge next year!

Farken awesome racing, wish I was out there with ya but awesome to see you improve over the two days! Was a bit worried about my chance of jumping you later in the evening after your highside. Glad you're OK!
