This sounds like a really good ride, I've yet to make it to New Plymouth so this sounds like a good reason to go. I'm guessing the first day will be around 450km's give or take some, I've done that before but walked funny the next day so I think I'll need to get on the bike as much as possible to get the John Wayne walk under control.

Yeah, I snore, so I hope everyone brings their earplugs...

EDIT: I just looked at the map, that first day seems like a loong day! Last time we did a 250cc 3-day tour with almost the same route, on day 1 we reached New Plymouth as it was getting dark, day 2 we reached Turangi as it was getting dark, and it seems this time we'll be doing nearly the same distance in one day! Google maps says Auckland -> Ohakune through the route we're doing will be 770kms, so it will be a long day - be sure to get enough rest the night before!
Motorcycling is like life - it's about the journey, not the destination.

ok, so let me explain sleeping arrangement...
in the bach, my folks room is obviously taken, and im sure to be the one on their couch. Depending on how cousy everyone wants to be, my room can sleep 4 to 6 (queen bed, bunks and couch that folds out to a double). The downstairs bedroom has a queen as well, and the nursery would sleep a couple on the floor (in process of changing it back to bunk room, but at moment, cot etc has been removed and its just floor space). And then there is the lounge, that has couch, two lazy boys and floor space... you can fight amongst yourselves for where and what you sleep on!

if that is not enough, i believe the accommodation for $10 each is one room with a bunks... but will check tomorrow

I do this as part of a day ride! I dunno .. sleeping arrangements? This close to Wellywood, I would just keep riding, have dinner there and turn around and come back to Dorkies!

    I dunno ...

yes but that tour went down Sh22 initially while this one goes down to ngarawahea on sh1 and then goes on to more back roads. This will save about and hour and a half timewise but more importantly will keep you less fatigued for the real groovy stuff down taranaki way...

I will be able to do it but I may just walk funny for the next week. The ZX6 isn't made for comfort but is soooo much fun to ride.

I'm keen and at the moment as that date is free so I am so in for a good weekends riding.

    Bring it on.

OK... Im gonna look like an idiot, but:
accommodation i found is a place with 12 separate rooms... so wouldn't have to all sleep together!
    and won't cost anything....
so, we will fill the beds at my place and then probably go there with everyone else... and in event more arrive... they get floor space!

however, at the moment, only have 6 (including me)... so i think we will fit! haha
