Ride report: Akl - forgotton highway

What an awesome ride! Thanks again to GSXR Trace for making it happen.

    Pics: (the first 12) http://s462.photobucket.com/albums/qq343/kiwi_Vstrom/

I left Masterton at 6 AM, returned home 16 hours later at 10 PM after 917 km.

To be honest, when my alarm went off a 5.15 AM I told myself "No way! The AKL KBers are probably a bunch of wankers anyhow." But that was just the sleepy mind talking, I knew that once I got on my bike all would be OK - and it was. You guys from AKL are good to ride with. I have lasting memories of green Ninja's screaming past me (while I was doing xxx kph), not to mention Mrs DUCATI*HARD's chrome Ducati and a few others.

It was good to be home last night but at the McDonald's car park in Wanganui I nearly changed my mind and went with you guys to Ohakune. You AKL guys are terrific - if you ever get down to the Wairarapa, look me up and I'll shout you a drink or cuppa - I look forward to seeing you on the road somewhere sometime again.

Same here. Nice to make new friends. I felt like heading back to AKL with you guys.

The pics are OK but avramita will have much better photos as he was using a proper 5mp camera whereas mine was a 3mp cellphone cam. The video that avramita shot of all of us on the highway should be a ripper.

Must also say thanks to avramita, kasper and others for doing the 'intersection marshall' bit (stopping to ensure the rest of us went the right way and did not get lost).

It was a pleasure to meet you Radar and hopefully you enjoyed the sound of the Ninja's as much as I enjoyed riding mine all weekend.

Great weekend, thanks a lot everyone, and especially Tracey and her parents!!

Right, now to wash all the mud off my bike...
