shall we get this right...
actually the Magpie has been on for MANY MANY YEARS longer (think it might be 1996, possibly earlier, it started?) than the Burt Munroe racing/rally which is only in its 3rd year this year so has had 2 years where it has clashed... hardly "years".
The bike show was often on the same weekend as the Magpie and usually a good viewing for those who went. But the last few years they have had the show on a different weekend, which must mean a whole lot less people going along for a look I'd say.
So WHO kept getting the timing wrong? not the magpie people... and they do an excellant job! Good job the Munroe organisers got it right this year, although I dont know if they have got the weather right yet again, poor buggars. One day I'd like to go but only if I can race the bucket and the PC, which aint gonna happen according to the organisers, so.... a little girl waits.

yank tank at Glenorchy 2006 rally
Hell man - the only point I was trying to get at was - regardless of who was first to hold the event on a specific date - the event which perhaps is less popular event would be further impeeding their abilitly to generate a good return due to there being a bigger, more popular event on at the same time which no doubt, would draw away many money paying motorcycle fans that otherwise would have gone.
So this inturn, could perhaps make the show "more miniscule"as you put it, than what it could have been.
Hope it was a good one.
Instead of arguin ova the issue of the where when or why of this show,
how about some reports on it
even better some pics!
Not everybody can afford to go to the Burt Munro event,
so us poor sods on limited incomes just have to do the Local thing
Having events on the same week ends does allow us poor folks to enjoy our rides just the same as you richer dudes who can afford to go every weekend to every rally regaurdless of the cost,
So!
Reports and pics of the show please
Is this the Ashburton Bike Show thread , or the Ashburton Bike Bashing thread

I told ya Dave.. I'm waiting for Iv to email me the picture of Stacey in a G string!
It was the first bike show I've been to that actually had bikes on the extreme and rich side of life - very reminiscent of the bike shows I'd expect in the states which was nice for me!
Until then, here you can have a pic of Iv at the show.

sorry Tony, Stacy is ..... ho hummm...women,
And bikes on tardme have no more appeal than at Woolworths shop
But a bike in a show, with other bikes, people etc around, now thats what is worth looking at, sometimes its what is it the background of a show pic that is more interesting that the focal point of the pic.

Well lets hope someone else who went puts up pics, as I rarely share mine over KB.
