took out the back armor. (with hopefully no regret down the line) Before I couldint turn my head and body to look behind me when I was changing lanes I could only do a little look.
Also is there a way to stop your leather jacket from bulking up at the chest area? as I find this a little uncomfortable as well.
I will get another leather jacket next year as this shoo jacket is a little bit to colourful ( red and white all over ) I know more colour better seen e.t.c
Any good leather jackets out there that are comfortable and not going to cook me in the heat?
Leather is good and safe, but geeez I get hot in it.
I wear a 100% polyester mesh with polyester liner e.t.c has back armor and shoulder and elbow armor. I wear this around town as its doesint over heat me and also its real comfortable to wear. I would rather wear leather tho as safer... when im on the highway I wear the leather jacket.

I dont know because i dont have any problems with mine, how long have you had yours? Leather needs to be worked in, can take a wee while to get it moving right for you.

The back armour is just foam, but if you aren't wearing a back protector, put it back in, something is better than nothing.

Yes, leather can be stiff from new, depending on type and thickness. The thicker it is, the less flexible it can be (to a point).

If your leather jacket didn't bunch in the chest when sitting on the bike, you wouldn't be able to walk properly when off it. Either the chest is smaller, so it doesn't bunch and you can't stretch out normally, or you have normal movement, and a bit of bunching. You'll probably get used to it.

Only way leather is going to be cooler is if it has zips in the sleeves or something like that, so you can pass air into the jacket. Otherwise, its leather dude... unless its perforated, it ain't gonna pass air like a mesh

Under your jacket try wearing under armor tops.You can get these from most sports shops. I was addicted to them after wearing them in 30-42 degree heat under my shirt and kit.
Helps move the sweat around and much more cooler,

I hear this under armor stuff is really good, and it comes in both a warm (summer) temperature and a cold (winter) temperature versions.

But i also hear it can be pricey!

They are quite expensive but if you shop around they are not to bad. I knoe Rebel sports are having a 30% off all goods this weekend.
The good thing is that they last a very long time.

My summer leathers have always been stiffer than I liked, particularly with all the armour in them. I spoke to Quasi about the problem and he recommended Mothers Leather Conditioner. Gave them a clean with Mothers Leather Cleaner first, then 2 coats of conditioner a few days apart. What a difference They are much more supple now. Great to find a product which really delivers and cheers Quasi.

Both products are available from Repco, priced in the mid-$20's.

After donor teased me about wearing a longsleeved black top under mine on the toy run I tried just wearing a teeshirt (thinking I'd be cold) but was amazed at how comfortable it was with just a tee underneath. Being used to wearing "normal" clothes (e.g. shirt, warm top blah blah) under my cordura it felt weird just having basically a singlet on.
I find the armour in my elbows starts to put pressure points on my funny bone after a while but I can only assume it's something to get used to as I wear it more and more.
p.s. my jacket is one of the Suomy ones - completely red all over, so I hope I'm a little more visible than standard!!

when you stop you you are covered in sweat Thats why I like under armor gear. they work so well. lokie was said in one of the posts they have both summer and winter gear.
I just use summer gear all year long works just fine.
great for wearing under work clothes stops any unsightly sweat marks.

Motomail Outlet in Ponsy was/is having Shift armoured jerseys for around $80...it has the (basically...) same spine protector as the one in the upstairs store, which retailed for $99 i think...

My Macna jacket doesn't bunch up, and I can't recall it being stiff either. I was amazed the first few times I wore it how well it fitted and how snug it felt. No discomfort at all, anywhere, ever.
I use Nikwax Leather Restorer on it - it's brilliant! I've been using various leather products for about 35 years now, including Renopure, Bay Tan, SnoSeal, and a ton of other products I can't remember. This is the only product I've EVER used that's easy to put on (it's in a pump bottle), and that seems to have lasting showerproofing properties. All you do is spray a little over the leather, leave it a wee while, then spread it around / rub it in with a soft cloth. The bottle's supposed to treat two garments, but even being liberal and wasting it, I've treated my jacket and gloves three times now, and the bottle's still more'n half full.
Unlike the various waxes and greay treatments, this dries within minutes, and doesn't leave the leather sticky or greasy feeling.

Yeah, I know this sounds like a sales pitch, but it was a genuine surprise after so long to finally find EXACTLY what I was looking for: something that was so easy to use, and yet effective. I've worn my leather jacket and gloves in three heavy downpours, and no water got in.
