Hopefully we shall be able to attend this year, I would like to just add the dates for the Burt Munro are out 27-29 November.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

To go to a camp/towm/location that is populated means that we cant have a bit pit fire and party till 3am! Half the fun of the Southern KB'ers bash is that we can get loose and nobody can judge us, or complain.
Seeking out a location that fits this parameter was the reason That I suggested Kopara.
You want a good party, or a mediocer one.
Ok, Kopara is at the end of 17+ks of gravel road, but the road condition is better than most state highways. So dont worry about your bikes getting stones in the drive belts, farings, or any other little place that could be nasty.
Ys there will be other places as good, some better.
    but i ask
What does the site need to have to fill the needs of 60+ rowdy bikes on the loose for a couple of nights.
Anything in the Mount Lyford area Subbie ...???

As always in the grand scheme of things, there will be people unhappy with the final decision. Such is life. But as been posted, this is a south island KB event. Let the southerners decide, I imagine all areas will get their chance eventually...

Nelson creek pub down the road is a hummer as well.

    This place. http://www.gentleannie.co.nz/
Not too far away from Seddonville and close to the Mokihinui River.

    Has cabins etc.

    Some possibilities:

    Red Deer Lodge (Nelson Lakes)

    Matakitaki Lodge (Murcheson)

Nelson Creek Pub & campground (near Greymouth)

Owen River pub & campground (inbetween Murch & Nelson)

    Mokihinui camp (North of Westport)

Kopara (up the road from Nelson Creek.. as Subike said.. the gravel is nothing to worry bout.. tis flat & smooth as)
    GET ON
    SIT DOWN
    SHUT UP
    HANG ON

... this is still my choice so far. It's the isolation that appeals
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?

Sadly, I don't think Mapua is "clothing optional" any longer.

Dave, You picked the parameters required perfectly. As per the gravel option, personally I don't mind but some rejected it last time when I suggested the Fox Peak Ski Lodge which had only 8kms of hard packed gravel.
Suffice to say Tarmac to the door means more KB'ers.

Skyrider suggests "Gentle Annie", which at $25 per head is great for 25 beds only BUT the cost increases with use of the other cottage accommodation.
We had 69 booked for Danseys Pass BUT only 43 ??? showed (was there an official count?)
Don't count on the numbers signing in actually arriving. This is hard on pre booking a day ride lunch meal where numbers are sometimes important.

So, lets keep the ideas coming in prior to a poll starting.
I believe Shrek and others may do a reconnasance of the NW Westland area!!!

I don't care where it's held, as long as I get to ride my bike!

Two out of three so far I have only ridden 40 miles (70km) to get there!

Has anyone suggested Fairwell Spit yet? John.
