Hopefully we shall be able to attend this year, I would like to just add the dates for the Burt Munro are out 27-29 November.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...
+1 for kopara
Not really a shingle road as such , nothing for road bikes to worry about. Thought I saw It up for sale again a while back, so may have to check thats it actually avail? .
Nelson creek pub down the road is a hummer as well.

The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!
Sadly, I don't think Mapua is "clothing optional" any longer.
Dave, You picked the parameters required perfectly. As per the gravel option, personally I don't mind but some rejected it last time when I suggested the Fox Peak Ski Lodge which had only 8kms of hard packed gravel.
Suffice to say Tarmac to the door means more KB'ers.
Skyrider suggests "Gentle Annie", which at $25 per head is great for 25 beds only BUT the cost increases with use of the other cottage accommodation.
We had 69 booked for Danseys Pass BUT only 43 ??? showed (was there an official count?)
Don't count on the numbers signing in actually arriving. This is hard on pre booking a day ride lunch meal where numbers are sometimes important.
So, lets keep the ideas coming in prior to a poll starting.
I believe Shrek and others may do a reconnasance of the NW Westland area!!!
I don't care where it's held, as long as I get to ride my bike!
Two out of three so far I have only ridden 40 miles (70km) to get there!
Has anyone suggested Fairwell Spit yet?John.
