    Attn all Auckland downtown KBers

Tomorrow - Thursday 8/1, the NZ Blood Service is doing collections from 10am-2pm in the HSBC building (there's a joke in there somewhere about banks and blood out of a stone) downtown (1 Queen Street).

If you can, please do your part. It's instant (sort of) karma and you get choccy bikkies and orange drink stuff afterwards!!

If you aren't sure if you can (lived in England at a certain time, for example) there is more information available at www.nzblood.co.nz

Isn't it because someone once had mad cow disease? A disease so hard to get that more people (about seven) died of the human form of it in the same time that the scare was on..

Considering how many english people there are here (and aren't allowed to contribute), I'd be happy to sign a form when taking blood that I'm willing to risk english contributions.

Yeah and that is a direct result of them not having had a robust testing method for things like Hep C and AIDS back in the day. I refused a blood transfusion about 12 years ago, as there was no guarantee the blood was clean. They probably cant test for Mad Cow disease, so cant say the blood they provide is clean. Mad Cow disease I could be prepared to risk my chances, but not AIDS or Hep C.

I have been off and on donor for many years, weight issues, babies, Heamoglobin and piercings have been the only reason for me to not to.

Love to donate, like to at least twice a year. However, a new tattoo will exclude me from eligibility for a little while...
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
