    Fuel pump help

    Hi there,

Seems that the fuel pump on my '89 CBR 250 R is bust and I need another. Getting a new one could be pricey so I'm looking around for a 2nd hand pump. Anyone got ideas or know where I could inquire? ANy help would be good! Cheers!

I had the pump go on my CBR250 a few years ago after I ran it dry. The fuel cut relay also went at the same time. No way was I going to pay $440+ for a new one. Instead I went to a car shop and got a low pressure (1-4 PSI) electric car fuel pump and hooked it up. Has been working perfectly since, and cost around $110.

Make sure that it is the pump and not the relay that has gone. From memory the relay would have been $70 or so, so I just shorted it out with a piece of wire instead (connect black to black/blue - leave the blue/yellow and yellow/blue alone).

EDIT: Also check all your fuses are okay.

Cheers for all the feed back guys. Turns out that the bike shop was able to fix the pump (that or there was a communication break down between mechanic and the guy that rang me...seems the more likely option) and they rang me a few days later to say I didn't need a fuel pump anymore. Guess it may have been what you suggested FlyingDutchMan.
