Those 2 so called mates should be charged for what they did, leaving their so called mate out there to die. What a rotten thing to do and how would they like it if it was done to them. It always seems to be easy to blame the police first without finding out the full details and yet those 2 low life wouldn't even tell the police about the 3rd guy that was with them. If he ends up dying then that is something those scum bags have to live with for the rest of their lives and probably wont even care about doing so. I hope the get what they deserve time behind bars.

I don't know what the kid was like when the police were there - but given how uncooperative they have been (and they would only be doing so if they were up to no good) its not beyond all possibilities he actually hid from the police !!

Were any of the comments you quoted put forward as facts?

Thats my point - all conjecture and how it can all make a story. Much like the newspaper with "alleged details" and "a neighbour said" reporting

    What a f**ken cop out!

I feel for the father and family involved, but he WAS NOT left there to die on purpose! A very alarming story just the same.

Huge phopa on the cops behalf for not checking the area properly, or to see if anyone else was in the car at the time of the accident. A big oppps.

But for gods sake - left there to die??

    ....

The driver of the Ford Falcon and another passenger left the scene before police arrived five minutes after the accident. Though two police officers and four people searched the area for 30 minutes, they failed to find Mr Bowler, who was lying injured in berry bushes."

They said he MAY have stumbled into the bushes in a disoriented state, but either way, his mates had left the scene of the accident and were not cooperating with the police so it's not fair to blame the police. He probably wasn't wearing a seat belt in any case.

This is a very telling quote from his father: "Mr Cribb could not explain why his son's two friends left the scene without him. "I'm pretty gutted about it - they are my cousins. I told them 'you left my boy in there', but they weren't all there."" Weren't all there? As in their brains were missing? Or they weren't there physically? Why not blame them? They crashed the car after all, not the police!

And it sounds like the father didn't even go looking for him until the morning, so the kid obviously didn't have a time he had to be home by - shit, my mother would have killed me if I were out all night at 17!
You can pick your friends but not your family. Family like that, who needs enemies.

The father is wanting to blame the Police. Loser.

His shit sucking cousins are the ones to blame. Solely.

They knew he was there. They wanted to flee the scene (as heard by the nearby resident) and when the Police invstigate, they refused to cooperate. Also losers.

And the crash was caused by...????

A crazy guess - a learner driver who was pissed, travelling at speed, who lost control or fell asleep......

Kids in a critical condition - possible he walked into the bushes, but injuries sounded more like he had been thrown... But if he had walked, that might be why the other two arse biscuits in the car were uncooperative, wanting to cover for the kid who ran off from the scene (ie: the driver, perhaps???).

Out all night at 17, we all live different lives don't we; .... I had been flatting for 2 years and living with my girlfriend by the time I was 17, out all night was a norm at lest once or twice a week.

I think he needs to get better mates though

No idea as to why they crashed, The "mates" were definitely at fault for being bastards, Cops are at fault for failing to do their job.

The circumstances leading up to the event surely don't warrant such a serious fuck up. I hope those involved are getting the required "retraining" behind closed doors while the arrogant facade being presented to the public is maintained.

Hope I'm never left to die on the side of the road by over paid monkeys too useless to do their job.

They must have been dreaming about the whacking great seatbelt fines they could have issued these lads.....Hell, I'm surprised that wasn't enough motivation to find him.

I hate sticking up for the Cops, but in this case there is no alternative.

It seems that these days everyone looks to blame "society" instead of accepting responsibility for themselves.

An unpleasant side effect of "The Nanny State" is that it seems to absolve ordinary ppl from making their own decisions....and in just the same way that a healthy person who gets into a wheelchair will eventually lose the muscle needed to walk....those freed from thinking soon lose the ability as well!
