Am I missing something here? So you and Jim both pissed on the same barbed wire fence, at the same time, when you were kids. Was it a Scout's outting or something?!Originally Posted by dangerous

If you're having issues with insurance, can I strongly suggest that you ring Classic Cover. Gav was right!!!
Thanks for the lead too Oscar. The nice point about them is that if you have a write off episode, you are only penalised for 12 months, and then you return to a better NCB rate.
That's $200 a year cheaper than the next best deal I've received so far. My apologies for spitting the dummy in such a childish fashion. Sick to death of trying to do the "right" thing and bearing a financial burden as a result, or having to wade through reams of fine print to find the "real" deal.

I must say, as a result of this thread, I'm considering doing summat about my insurance with State. They've been pretty good, and the annual premiums are low, but I really hate it that the excess on the VFR is $1500 for anything. I had the same on my other VFR, but they told me it was only for theft, with a smaller excess for anything else. So it means I'm hit in the wallet for almost any damage, despite being a State customer for umpty bloody years, and having four vehicle policies, house, and contents with them. And the only claims I've made have been one for theft years ago when our house was burgled, and more recently the car when our son trashed it and for a pair of spectacles broken in the crash. They paid us $1300, which is less than they would've got for the 'wreck', and that was less than we've paid on insurance over the years for the Subaru. (We'd just reduced the insured value to $2500, and there was an excess of $1000).
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
Classic Cover, can someone of my age get that? Or is it one of those only over 30 type deals?
..mainly to see you come round about ditching your bike Jim. You clearly love your bikes to bits and going without one would be a huge hole in your life, if not close to unbearable. Chuffed that you can see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Incidentally, I'm with John Baker and my '99 'bird is $960 full comp, $1000 excess and theft with no weasel words. Mind you, I'm 57 so probably get pensioner's rates![]()
Chin up!

There is a point that it becomes economic to self-insure. I reached that point when my dirt bikes got upgraded & I realised they weren’t covered by home & contents even while sitting in the garage.
The road bikes are on 3rd party only now (no 3rd party cover is just silly as it is so cheap & if you hit something expensive. . . )
Bike insurance is expensive (but nothing compared to uk) & I decided that paying a premium of almost a grand a year on each bike that I would likely have enough to pay for the repair or replacement after a few years.
Understandably if you have a new bike then this isn’t for you. I did decide to invest in a few hundred dollars of security measures. This at least makes the theft option less likely unless they are Really motivated.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
I took out insurance with them when I was 32 and they had no issues with that. I have the 888 with them. They were $200 cheaper than the nearest other quote.Originally Posted by StoneChucker
