This year we tried 16 different beers. Our palates are probably pretty mellow later in the afternoon, it's no high brow event with tasting notes! We just crack 'em open and drink them, chatting about how much we like/dislike it, etc.

We do mostly lager-type brews; from memory Radler, Summer Ale, Stella Artois, Corona, Sol, Miller Chill, Sundance, Rogue Hop, Classy Red, Emersons Winter something or other (tasted like cloves?), Monteith's Original....hmmm, there were 2 other Emersons but I can't recall their names off the top of my head, plus some others. Anyhoo, you get the drift.

We are very lucky to have a friend who always attends and doesn't drink alcohol. That person prevents the steaks being burnt.

We start around noon and just cruise through the afternoon, and wrap up dinner with a wine or two in the evening. I guess because we take a long time drinking we are all okay the next morning, which is nice, too.
The OD's place next New Years day it is, then!!

I just spent a week in WA.

Was pleasantly surprised to find that Monteiths is available in most of the larger bottleshops in Perth.

I found that the Monteiths Summer Ale goes down very nicely on a 40^ day.

Probably Emerson's "Taieri George" - winter seasonal release, it is a "spiced ale".
I have the whole Emersons range in my shop should anyone in Hammerstown want to try them...not that I am advertising you unnerstand

Stone Ruination India Pale Ale - what a hop monster!!!! Superb! The bottle's pretty flash, as well.

So, how does Monteiths Pale Ale rate against Little Creatures Pale Ale?

Little Creatures is one of the best Pale Ales around. I have had many people move from Epic (you tried that?) to Little Creatures. I describe Epic as "the sumo wrestler" of Pale Ales and Little creatures as "the ice skater" of Pale Ales. Epic is huge and in your face and just blasts your taste buds. Little Creatures is much more subtle - elegant and refined and beguiles rather than assaults your senses....
Don't know the Stone Ruination but sounds interesting...
