My visor was covered in bug guts when we arrived (also had a wasp sitting on my handlebar for about 15 minutes - had to keep a careful eye on it in case it flew in a vent or summat...). SO, I cleaned the visor before we left, with leftover water and a hanky, and by the time we got to Ngatea, it was splattered agin! Friggin suicidal cabbage white butterflies! I was watching them as I was riding along, fluttering along then, "OOOhhh - shiny clean visor!" and SPLATT!! straight into it.
Funniest one was on the way to Paeroa, one went splat right in the middle at about 120km/h, and I said, "Great!", and vifferbabe said, "What?" and so I told her. She laughed and said, "I heard the "Tink!" as it hit, and wondered what it was!"
'Our bugstorm' was moths & sundry UFOs in the valley just on the Taupo side of the Tarawera Tavern at around 9pm. Anyone driven at night when it's snowing heavy - you'll know what I mean. Had to stop, spit & a tissue almost did the job. 10 minutes smoke stop & they departed to wherever it is they go. Good riddance. Warm summer nights half hour after sunset = BAD.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Wow! Best ride to Paeroa yet! Will definitely be going down the back way from now on. Nice to meet some the KB's, Vifferman & babe, Nhuan, David and other I can't remember names of :spudwhat: Sorry.

Had a few interesting moments through the twisties, (probably going a bit too quick for my ability) but got to Kaiaua in one piece. What was with that woman standing out by the roadside at Kaiaua??? She was waving a 50km sign around, giving the fingers and looking really really angry .

Big congrats to all the KB racers. An awesome feat of bravery and skill.

Weren't we following you through the twistie bits? :spudwhat:
You looked like you were riding well to me. Just remember to look through the corners, not at the corner. Hope I wasn't making you uncomfortable following you. I probably got a bit close at times (and not because you were going too slow).
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

First of all, thanks to all of my mates and my bro who came along for support and help. It was really cool to have you guys out there. Specially thanks to Speedmedic who helped me with everything throughout the day. I really appreciated that man!

Paeroa is definetly a circuit not for the faint hearted. I reckon I was much too carefull to the point where I was pretty dissapointed with my performance of yesterday. I know I could have and should have pushed a lot harder but honestly, the thought of crashing @ Paeroa freaked me out. I was all up for going hard out in the morning but after a few hairy moments, I just backed off and just road well within my comfort zone, which I wasn't too happy about after the races.

Comming from doing club races and doing Paeroa where I was pretty much against the best racers of NZ obviously showed the differences in skill level on the day. I will have to improve my riding a lot for Paeroa in 2006 to be competitive at all.

I still had fun yesterday and it was really cool to catch up with everybody.

Well done KK! Man you got some talent, riding your bike and doing low 54's around Paeroa on your first time out there definetly gets my respect! You'r awesome rider dude!

Again, thank you to mlcrisis and SDV International Logistics for sponcering me for Paeroa.

Or was it knowing that I would be the one to scrape you off the track????? Thankfully the fear of Riff Raff kept all KBers out of trouble on the track!!!
And you shouldn't be upset with any part of your performance. This year was a chance for you to get the feel of the track, learn it's good and bad points, and come back next year to give it a good dealing to! I'm proud of all my KBers who raced yesterday!! :

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the support, had a farkn good day and was well pleased with the results. Ended up with a 4th in the first race and a 5th in the second. Think I got about 11th in the Robert Holden race too.

First F2 race was the highlight of the day, getting the holeshot and leading for a while. Doesn't make me feel too bad when it's guys like Craig Shirrifs and Andrew Stroud that got past. My placings had me in 4th for the day and that put me 3rd in F2 for the BOTS series so am chuffed with that placing.

Oh and (sponsors plug time).....was on the new Metzeler Racetechs and they are mint tyres and were real grippy all day - go try them!

Great catching up with the KBers I saw down there and well done to the other KB riders, great first efforts MR and KK - you've broken your streets virginity!

    Cheers,
    Nicko

Better going slow than getting your bike barbequed like Craig Flood

It was a great day all around. I especially enjoyed watching the old triumph sidecar getting super sideways at every oppurtunity and receiving applause from the crowd every time they did it.

There were quite a few cage drivers on the way home who would move over and give the bikes a bit of room to get past, which was appreciated .
