    Duct tape bucket

The bucketed CB I bought had about half a meter of duct tape over all the places you would nylon usually, and the owner had done one race on this so I'm assuming they were fine letting him ride with a thick amount of tape over everything. If I turned up at mt wellington, would I be allowed to ride like that or is it strictly nylonned? Buckets4me, you will probably know what I mean by half a roll of tape over everthing sharp on the bike

My opinion is that if you fall of it, the duct tape will be scraped away straight away.
Reckon you need to nylon it. I use skateboard wheels bolted on. Works a treat (professionally tested ).

Ok I'll try that. I guess I'm going to have to replace the pegs then, huh? Steel base right through.

Make sure you use recessed bolts that go right into the hollow bit of the skateboard wheel, ie only scrapes on the nylon.

Also, ensure you have nylon in the handlebar ends too.

The "Bike Preparation" part of this is a good guide

you dont need to worry about that strait away
they ducktape was a tempry measure from what I understand of the old guy
he hated the idear that you had to nylon everything
    he raced on car parks
get some nylon chopping bords and cut them up use the old foot pegs
and nylon the bottom of them
bolt scatebord wheels to the handle bars and axels
you will have to drill and tap or weld nuts into the handlebars
but dont worry about that to much for this weekend 7/8 feb
just make sure the bike runs ok and dont fall off

JC will let you get away with the ducktape till you start falling off
I used fixed pegs and no bungs last time I was there doh:

    and come have fun

see you there and remind me about the points I think I found 3 or 4 of them all new

Ok. If I get the battery charger by then. Still waiting for a 6v charger for the battery I've got in it now, it's in the post. It should last the whole day or atleast a few races. I hope you're sure they'll let me out there for the weekend with duct tape 'cause it's a bit of a drive.

depends who is running it but it is a fun day not a serios race thing

I have never seen anyone turned away

if I had my spare bike going you could borrow that
but it looks like the main bike has broken engine mounts and I've been to lazy to fix and the spare has no engine
and the 50 I dont want to run lol so I might be borrowing a bike as well lol

    Get into the habit

IMHO, get into the habit of prepping your bike properly. Then you can go out and enjoy race day.

There's nothing worse on a hot day than running around in yer leathers between track times trying to fix stuff that could have easily been done before you get to the track. Worse if you can't fix it, your days buggered and you don't ride.

Be responsible, John Connor runs the Auckland meets, I know from experience it's hard work. He relies on us the riders to do our part, and fair enough.

As a minimum make sure you
    Wire lock your sump
Plug the ends of your handlebars
Make sure your footpegs fold and are protected with plastic
Make sure you have the correct riding gear, including back protector

It wont take you long, it doesn't cost much, and there is plenty of time before the next meeting.

    Have fun.
