CHCH: Any IT work available?

Gidday,
I recently lost my position at a local Web Development firm due to the whole "global economic recession" thing (drew the short straw), and was wondering if anyone knows of any unfilled IT positions?

I'm trained in most IT (BICT degree from CPIT) and have 7+ months commercial experience in web development and CakePHP programming. As you can imagine I'm pretty eager to pick up some new experience and broaden my skill set, so I'll consider anything at the moment.


Apologies for starting such a selfish thread, but it's got to a point that it's damn near impossible to find IT work that's suitable for someone of my qualification/experience. I've tried everywhere else and know that there's some local IT players on here who could definitely throw me a lifeline.

Good luck fella. I had similar problems 12 years ago after graduating, the old catch 22 no experience no job thing... I took the first job that came along, it was outwith my skillset, but I adapted quickly and gave a good honest interview etc... if you're good at what you do you'll find something pretty quickly. The interview is all important, can't do this, can learn that etc... and i'd love to continue to tell you how to suck eggs... but it'll happen... If I was in a position to help I would consider it. The good thing is that people are looking for cheap and cheerful... first rung on the ladder etc... all the best man
