Since I am always money challenged I am looking at the Abisko (http://www.abisko.co.nz) which is close to the other place, but has camp sites for $25 for 1-2 people and cabins from $55 for 1-2 people

Kewl. Welcome to stay here on the Friday. I'm looking at leaving about 7 to get to Timaru on the Saturday.

Will keep that in mind, although was thinking of getting up to friends at Cave Friday night so the start on Saturday wouldn't be quite as early! Depends on weather tho. Not sure how late to leave booking and committing to it.

Hmmmm... turns out that was a dumb idea as they aren't riding through Rolleston they are turning inland near Rakaia!

Jo Segars is planned for lunchtime so we are both still keen to meet up at 11.30am... Burger King / cnr Johns Rd just as you are heading out of town
