    Stupid question for today folks

How come a person that usually spells instinctively and reasonably well (shut up Hitcher) and can generally string together a coherent sentence without trouble, finds even simple words impossible to spell and good grammar impossible when typing an email to apply for a job? I mean what is with that??

    What's the job?
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Yeah, what's the job? Can I have it?

Ah I see, I thought you'd been reading a substandard job application. (and not your own I mean)

    Could be:
    An off day?
A tiny wee bit of pressure?
    A desire to be correct?

I often find that my spelling is better if I don't spend too much time thinking about whether it is correct or not. When you start thinking whether you've spelled it right or wrong you can easily derail yourself - bit like riding a bike in that way I suppose.

You mean like when you're focusing on a word too much and it starts to not make sense? I passed with top marks in my English exam last year but in the same year I sat for half an hour trying to spell "Hammer". Maybe I'm just yet to be diagnosed with a brain tumour, though

Could be an obscure form of "target fixation" - you know - look at the manhole cover and hit it...?
