I feel the proper question now is 'how much of a geek am I' :spudwhat:
I'm gonna have to tell my boss about that head tracker thingy- she loves gadgets, bet she gets one within 3 weeks of hearing about it
My daughter telling me like it is:

Sounds very cool, you'll have to post a pic for all us geeky sorts.
Life is difficult because it is non-linear.

Flight Simulator?? How sad. All you can do is take off, fly around for a bit and land. Yawn. Combat flight simulators -- different story. You get to blow shit up and shoot things down. Yee haw! I am currently very in love with a Chance-Vought F4U-1D Corsair...

Oh, how dare you, I am shocked and hurt by this statement. I fly with hundreds of peoples lives in my hand. You try feeling the stress of landing a 747 on Mount Cook's pissy landing strip in a force 7 gale and tell me that's not edge of the seat stuff.

Incidently - you get the Vought with FS as well.

After you've shot down a handful of "expert" Zeros and strafed their island landing strip, putting the Corsair back on the deck of your carrier is a reasonably tense way of completing your mission.

The 747 is a pig to fly. No wonder these things have computers in real life. I've only tried flying them a handful of times and didn't really see the appeal. The 737 is much more enjoyable if you really must fart around with passenger aircraft. A bit tail-happy though...

    MS Flight sim.
Try flying various planes off of that helicopter pad on the top of the building.

Although I havn't had any games on my pc for 4 years or so now.
But I do have about 25 driving games for the PS2 and a Logitech Driving Force Steering wheel.
I'm 99% of the way through Gran Tourismo 3 A Spec after 4 years of playing every so often.

Yep, you're a bit of a geek. I admire your ability to play MS Flightsim. I got myself a second hand copy of flightsim 2002 and only ever played it a few times without reading much of the manual/doing many of the lessons.

I have to mention somewhere, so might as well be here, that there's a new Battlestar Galactica series, the first half of a two part miniseries aired last saturday, I think the next half is going to be on tv next saturday, TV3 at 7:30pm, but check the website to be sure.
I didn't watch it myself, didn't know it was on because I don't watch much tv. But I've already seen the first series (it aired in the UK already) and recommend it to any sci fi fans
Some people will hate it, some will like it, it's pretty different to the original series.

I was going to say, yes if you fly real time and do the whole bit... but you're reading Stephen Hawkins so that's a definate YES.

You could probably be relieved of the geek status if you have downloaded the A10 and do the whole trip in about 4 minutes ...although in the curry thread you mentioned you've got an MP3 player so... I'm sorry, from one to another... you thee be a geek

(Personally I carry a Leatherman Squirt, it's much more managable than the full size Leatherman but doubles as a good key ring.)

    I am a geek.

But you all knew that already.

I don't unwind by playing computer games, though. I would rather shoot things for real.

And I haven't played Flight Sim since the '98 version.

And I don't have a Leatherman. Just a little red Victorinox.

But I'm still geekier than any of you half-arsed socially-integrated wannabes.
