Ok, so here I am - RS125 rider

    Hi all.

This is my first post, so here's a bit of background. I've got my restricted, and hope to get my full July-ish this year. I'm riding a 2003 Aprilia RS125, which is pretty good. Looks pretty anyway. It'll be for sale once I get my full, so if you're looking at getting into riding...

Had a great ride to Auckland on Sunday. Caught up to a CBR250 rider, and we had a bit of a fun/safe race between the cars for a while. 2 other bikes we caught up to joined in too. Impromptu racing is fun! Of course, we never went over 110km/hr... (no, seriously).

Anyway, do you guys organise rides at all? How about a <250 track day at Pukekohe when it opens again (oh, I'm in Auckland).

250 Track Days?? Is that like 1 every day for nearly a year? I couldn't possibly get to all of them.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

But wouldn't that just be so much fun! Knowing that you only get two days a week to recover and service the bike before spending the rest of the week constantly honing your skills!

    250 track days... good one

I don't the Aprilia would hold up actually! Given the engine's main bearing shattered at only 3,000 kays... d'oh! Good thing the bike shop paid to fix that. Since then I haven't had any problems.

Yeah, the Aprilia isn't cheap (I got it for $9,500 ex-demo), but I liked the idea of buying a new bike. I thought that would mean it would be 100% reliable!

I think I'll buy Japanese next...

I've tried to post a pic of me at Pukekohe on the Aprilia - hope it worked! Oh, and woops, it's the 2002 model, not 2003

Welcome, nice bike - you didn't consider the 250?

It bounces off the rev-limiter at about 175 km/hr in 6th gear. That's about half way down the back straight at Pukekohe. With higher gearing it might go quicker.

Yeah I did, but have you ridden one!? Their power delivery is even harsher than my 125, and the riding position is even more race-oriented (read: f@#&ing uncomfortable for anthing more than 30 mins)

As it is I can only ride the 125 for an hour and a half before my neck and shoulders are killing me. 2 hours straight and I can't even turn my head properly anymore!

Comfort will play a big part in my next bike choice, given I try to do a bit of long distance riding. But still a sports bike, of course.

Haha, fuel doesn't last me that long
