    Triumph 675 help

I have just finished re-building my "trumpet' after a "biggie" at Ruapuna in Dec.
Its all together/painted and ready for a shakedown at HAGD next sat and then an assault on the SOT 09.
had it all running earlier in the week all was "sweet"
However while re-attaching the dash console with screws (as lugs had snapped off in crash) i overtightened a screw and damaged the circuit board........ now it wont start (BUGGER)
Obviously needs the dash to function properly to send correct signals to ECU)
    Can anyone help
Does anyone know if the is a dismantler in NZ with one of these (was told there was a place in Auckland wrecking one but dont know which one!
Does anyone have a spare ( does,nt matter about cosmetic appearence as long as functions work ok) Mine had broken LCD and some warning lamps but worked fine.
Or as a last resort could anyone lend me one for a fortnight!
Can probebly source one through states or Uk after the SOT when time is not such an issue.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED GUYS

Should be able to by pass it all bro ! My triples don't need the dash at all to start so cant see why yours should ! All i had to do was cross the clutch kill circuit on the switch gear !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

yeh Sinfull i was hopin it would work with out the dash but it doesnt.
Clutch switch has been bypassed for a while.
If you unplug dash absolutly nothing happens when you turn it on...... no fuel pump/solenoids etc
Im sure you can loop wires on the multi plug but searches on the net have so far been unsuccessful
    Cheers

    FUSES

    Strange but true!

If there is one blown fuse in the circuit some where for "ANYTHING", the bike will NOT run!

Maybe the spiking of the dash caused a fuse to blow? Check every one mate

COmmon ppl, surely someone with a 675 near swerve could pop round to try their dash on his bike, even just to eliminate that !

Bloody sure shaun will be right there man, what about ya relays ? was the ignition on when ya spyked it ?
Hear the kill switches can burn out easy too, may have fused on kill seeing ya cant hear the pump etc, or have ya replaced that with a laynard ?

Not many trumpet owners out this way sinful.
Well there are a few but they keep well hidden.
Off to see glen at local dealer today to see if he can help.
The ignition switches on ok.... clocks illuminate...... soleniods operate.. fuel pump etc..... but no go on the starter button... and ex servo motor wont stop operating. So ive not blown it completely just shorted somthing out (HOPEFULLY)

An aplogy to Sinful......... yes you were right 675 will run without dash plugged in.
Turns out there were a few minor electrinic issues as to why the "trumpet" wouldn,t start
All sorted out by Glen at Street & Sport ChCh.... many thanks mate.
And all in time to give it a shakedown at ruapuna yesterday. All is now good and lookin forward to SOT in 2 weeks

Thanks for all ya feedback guys..... if anyone hears of a dash for sale a nod in this direction would be appreciated thanks

If you are quite sure you have damaged the board, pull it out and go over it with a magnifying glass or just your eye. The fault should simply be a mechanical one (cracked PCB trace, snapped component lead, bent connector) and the repair should be obvious.

Dont put the bare unprotected board down on glass or highly polished insulating surfaces, coz the static electricity there will zap it. Think ahead where you are going to put it down - wooden tabletop is fine, dry plastic chopping board or newspaper is not. Handle the bare board by the metal brackets or some other larger metal component. Wear cotton tee shirt, jeans etc, not synthetics. Before you put the board down on any surface, touch that surface with your spare hand first, then put the board down straight away.

If you cant find any fault, take the bare board back to the bike and plug it in and turn the ignition on. Take care the board does not contact any metal part of the bike or you will eff it and lots of other expensive electronics instantly. Wiggle connectors and things and see if you can get something to light up. Sometimes there are tiny fuses onboard that look more like resistors, but no colour bands on them.

If you are still screwed and if you have time, send it to one of the electronics people on KB and let them have a wee chat with it. Most faults like this are simple ones.

    Good luck.
