Hmmm - I'm thunking its about time I got to the NI for a bit of a look around and to meet some of you folks. Got to sort luggage for the XTZ and a few other things so put me down as a maybe at this stage. No preferance re dates.

Wonder how long Chch to Otarawhatsit? About 16 hours Google Maps recons. Might need a couple of days off for this one.

Ohh ohh ohh - just rememberd about the bit of road from Taumarunui to the Eight Mile junction near Ti Kuiti. Did that in a GT (turbo) Toyota Starlet (wifes car!!!) back in 2000. Curves are good

After last weekends chaos on the south coast I think I will provisionally book this puppy in. Ryan, if you need a pit stop on your way north you are always welcome to stay at my place in PPram. Mark, get a 950 and then we can have an evenly matched race....hehe. Had a great time riding with you last weekend and it is always good to have a keen man to "test the waters" so to speak on the more gnarly bits before making an Ass of myself on the 950. Looking forward to this ride......Jez

Can't make it ANZAC day but can in May. Do you need big knobs or will dual purpose tyres cut it?

Rob, I'm sure you don't need to make a big knob of yourself....

    That's my function.

your tyres will be sweet Rob unless its wet then the 42nd could get tricky,
but if the rain gods are apon us the not so confident could do an alteria route
and meet up the other end.

    just a thought

Haha! When we left your house and went to get fuel, I put in 7.5L into the 7.7L tank so nah no jerry can needed, had loads left, gas station could've been another 5k away and I would've made it!!!!!!

My arse was so sore from the KLX seat that once we hit Lower Hutt and I said goodbye to Stephen & Struan, I rode the last 15k home all thru town and round the Eastbourne bays standing up on the pegs!!!!!! Got some great looks from passing cars!!!

Will look forward to our next ride together mate!
    Cheers, Dave

Put me down for a definite maybe. Some serious grovelling to the financial controller may be required, though.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Cheers Jez. Not sure how to tackle this one yet. Starting to think Chch to Ohakune/Tamranui in one day (friday). Then up Sat for the ride to Otorohanga. Would try and get a 10ish sailing so ride north would be from early afternoon on. Way south could possibly be as far as welly sunday night then sail and travel to Chch on Monday morning.

Got provisional leave from the home front controller.

    Cheers R

Just do it as Nike says......

Hell who needs to win Lotto when interest rates are this low.....those machines will be a collectors item one day.....the only problem is that you need to stay alive long enough to enjoy the benefits of owning a classic......they have a tendency to want to prematurely put you 6 feet under!!!!!!!

So do we have definite date for this ride yet Mark?
