A good scrubbing?

Hi There,

Just bought a Suzuki Freewind XF650, runs really well, I just want to give it a bloody good clean..

Ive stripped the fairings and covers off etc and was wondering whats the best way to give the bike a good deep clean.. is there any mix I can get for the jetwasher to blast off the grime? or best to do it by hand?

If so, what cleaners/products are best for this..?

Hot soap and water and a soft cloth/sponge will work wonders - take care with the water blaster around the electrics, air intake etc. Personally I would not use a water blaster on a bike - hose yes.

If it is seriously messy a spray of degreaser first will help.

Once the crap is off its labour time with the usual products - polish/wax for paint work & alloy, Autosol (or similar) for chrome, and a silicone spray or similar (armorall) for plastics, cables etc.

Nothing on the brakes - including degreaser.

I use a waterblaster regularly on mine and have never had any probs, but, as AllanB says, take care around electrics and intakes.

Don't use Armorall on the seat or the tyres. Makes things very slippery!

Dont forget radiators/oil coolers!!! new cores arent cheap!

Too clean/detail i like to use degreaser in a tray under the bike and a parts brush. You can get into all the little nooks and crannies. Then i spray all the dirty residue off with a rubber friendly brake clean (wurth)
