Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Have always run at recommended pressures a la book.
So would you change it now or would you run the last coupla thousand km out of it? Can't say it handles that badly, but then, you get used to things that sneak up very slowly...
I wouldn't worry...sounds like your not a demon rider..so its not really a issuse of performance or safety..run it till the min tread lines show. then replace...but I would consider it before winter.

I paid $540 for a set of PR2 fitted from Cycletreads. and that was a 190 for the rear. I get about 11,000km and replace them early.

I tell you what, Slofox: I bet that if you go and get the new tyres fitted (that's an extremely good price, BTW!) you'll be saying, "Huh... these tyres are SO much better than the old ones. Didn't realise my handling had deteriorated that much. Can't believe I debated buying them..."
Remember: it's not just the amount or tread left - it's the condition of the rubber (whether it still softens up and provides good grip), AND the profile.
Your back tyre sounds like it's kaput, tread left or not. 14,000 km is good mileage.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Holy shit 14000K's...

    ride harder!

I dont even ride that hard and a rear tyre is extremely lucky to last 5000ks...

14,000 is great, $465 for a pair of PR2's fitted is Excellent.

Smoke the old one and get into the PR2's

I paid $520 fitted last year for a pair in CHCH and that was discounted!

Bastards in the North Island always appear to be getting better offers on tyres! Must be the greater competition - there is only two dedicated tyre suppliers in Christchurch.

A chap I know just fitted a pair of Avon Storms in CHCH - $600 plus fitting.....
