It's interesting, I think how controllable you percieve potentially hazardous situations decides wether you become fearfull or not.
I'm shit scared of heights and my last job was in HVAC, we spent a lot of time on the top of buildings on outside of plantrooms, on construction sites etc. Most of the time I had no problems but every now and again I had that freeze moment the earlier posters mentioned.
On every one of those moments there was an uncontrolled element that I hadn't quite factored into the ascent/descent equation. Usually a loose ladder* rung, or one not tied off, loose scaffold etc.
I'm sure there's more than a few here that are quite comfortable riding a motorcycle at over 200km/h but take the bars out of your hands at that speed and you'll be calling for mum, like Martybabe
My greatest fear is that I will develop an uncontrollable urge to start collecting Crocs.
* Studies have shown that height on Ladders exponentially increases the damage done from the falling height and a consequence increases the fear factor proportionally
Death and taxes. 'Cause I know I won't avoid either.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
Actually, being burned alive whilst trapped in my car or house qualifies as a pretty big fear.
Some of the stories coming out of NSW are truly horrifying...
has developed a love of big fours. WTF!
I have a fear of getting my willy jammed in my zipper, especially when I'm pissed. (Or still pissing, ick....and ouch.)
