Yup that's at the top of my list too...spiders, snakes and heights I have all been desensitized too. But I doubt there is anything that can make you fearless of that one...well expect for being a sad, fucked up and cold person of course.

I was given one as a child that was (at the time) taller than I...I couldn't sleep with it in my room - it had to be locked in the laundry cupboard in the kitchen! I am much braver now

Not much scares me for me um if that makes sense. But I get scared for other people. People out of their depth in a situation or where saftety on a track isn't up to scratch. then I get scared
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Don't really have any any more. I used to be terrified of spiders and big dogs (got attacked by one as a kid- that'll put a person off!) but now? De nada.

I always taught not to have a fear of anything that couldn't directly kill you, and if it could you should respect it rather than fear it. which explains the bikes, the climbing and all the other shit I do for fun

    Pain.
I fear pain and anything that has potential to cause me pain.
Not scared of anything else whatsoever.
I'm not scared of dying, so long as it's painless.
I'm not afraid of bugs, unless they can sting or bite, causing pain.
I couldn't care less about heights, unless I could fall and hurt myself.
    You get the idea.

Just as well your a bloke then aye!
You wouldnt want to be female and get preggers now would you!

What's with the fear of heights? Height is a "good thing"!
    Widths... on the other hand.

I guess that body piercing is off of your list of "things to do" then?

When I lived in Sydney we discovered a blue tongue under the house because the dog (a Boxer) had it bailed up. We could only see its head, so initially we though it was a snake. Eventually it retreated back into the house and we successfully co-habitated for a little while....until I came home one day to find pieces of lizard in my dog's kennel/run. I felt really sorry for it

I didn't think this thread was for me, I fear next to nothing me.

Or so I thought......but as I'm reading through this I'm going, yea got that and that and ooh I'd forgotten that and bugger me I hate them things!

So it would appear, on reflection, I am actually scared of everything, including my own shadow. As a consequence of reading this enlightening thread, I shall sit on the sofa with the dog, petrified of anything and everything and never move again. Oh wait I'm scared of Dogs and sofas

    I want my mom!
    Oh bugger

fear of heights is so common, can anyone tell me why ?

this is not a piss take and im not looking to embarass anyone, its just that everynow and then for work ill be on/under cranes or hanging from building structures etc and its no thing at all..

on a side note we have a service engineer at work who is terrified of heights, you would think a company that predominantly builds/services cranes would not be his first choice..

I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that when I was younger, heights didn't bother me at all, but now that I'm in my prime I get a bit freaked out.

Until I had children, probably my biggest fear was of being assaulted or attacked in some way.

This reminds me of a few years back (before I met my husband) when I was feeling a little uncomfortable about the attention I was getting from a superior at work, and it all came to a head (well, it seemed as if he used it as an opportunity) when my beloved Boxer dog died, and this guy was texting, ringing, sending gifts and then he turned up at my house. I remember feeling quite desperate and alone because up until that point, I had never feared for my safety when my beautiful boy was with me.

I now have 3 fuck-off dogs and of course it goes without saying - a mild-mannered husband who would transform into bad-ass mofo if anyone tried to mess with me
