    About fucking time.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

Jeez I was just about to say what a pack of homos, but if they have come to the party and fixed/replaced everything that knob-head broke, then sweet, who knows, rep like that might even attract other customers from their usual service place..

Can't really buy advertising like this huh..

I would think more, dude gets bike trashed because it was not secured properly, second rate repair is done without a public liability claim,it is posted on the internet and gets 500+ views in a matter of days including one post quoting how may times this has supposedly happened in the past, shop suddenly wants to make things right even though they could have showed some integrity by doing that the first time.

Why else would you make it public.

Fair enough, didn't see it like that.

I think they should throw in some chocolate biscuits, you know, just to sweeten the deal..

Well they didn't do a great job for me. And I trust myself to do a better job than they do hence my suggestion to take your own wheel off and refit then you can make sure all is assembled correctly. Other than that always check their work just for your own piece of mind, they wont replace your life.

Agreed, have had some bad experiences with mechanics in the past. Had my car in to check out a rattle thats been getting worse. Said its no prob its some arms at the back that has worn out rubbers, they will order new ones in under the toyota warranty, for the next 3 weeks just drive like it is now its not dangerous. So off i go but it definitely doesnt sound good, later i decide to just look and find the damn problem myself. After a long process of checking and listening while driving to find where its coming from i sit next to the car and start to fiddle around with everything. Turns out it was one of the rear brake calipers thats loose.. couldnt believe my eyes.

If the repairs are done to a satisfactory standard then there is no need to name the shop...

FFS accidents happen and that's all this was... if it was something that happens all the time at the bike shop then that's a different story..

If the repairs are done properly then there's no harm in naming the shop. But they weren't... until the shop was named.

I second that. With the stoners they hire and the things I've heard and seen I wouldn't be trusting them blindly.

    Hi Nallac and all,
My name is Craig Stephens, and I am the new store manager(Jan 09) at Cycletreads and could spend all day writing replies to all this speculation, but instead I will give you my side of the story and some comments.
Thanks to those who stood up for CT, and I am sorry for any who have had bad experiences in the past, but please give us another go for 09.
I back my wshop guys 100% as they work their buts off serving the motorcycling industry and they treat every bike as it is their own! They are certainly not stoners and they are never under the influence of drugs and alcohol at work, or they would be dismissed as that is serious misconduct.
We do have Public liability insurance with an eccess of $2,500, but have never had to use it, as we prefer to organise the fix ourselves, which reduces the amount of time waisting for ins companies to sort their crap out.
In regards to Learoy's ZX9, we are extremely sorry that it fell over and we repaired it properly and as quickly as humanly possible to get him back on the bike as he was keen to get back in the saddle. The plastic repair guy did us a favour and rushed it through, as did our painter. This is where we have learnt a lesson, as our haste to have it repaired(1 week) meant that there is a small amount of twisted paint around the fairing screws when it was put together not 100% dry (Learoy was shown this and he accepted it). The rest of it is as good, if not better than when it came to us as that is what our standards require and what Learoy agreed to. The mirror was already scratched and the bike had been damaged before as there was old crash damage we could see on the mirrors, pipe, bar ends, missing sections where top fairing meets the screen etc etc.
The helmet only had a superficial mark on the visor, so Learoy again agreed that the visor replacement was a fair fix.
I personally felt bad for Learoy, as did my worker, who had never dropped a bike before, so I had decided after some thought to do the gift voucher for his front tyre when the Ex-Japan parts arrived. My worker felt so bad that he said he would even pay for it!
Learoy then informed me that one of his work colleagues had been following the whole process on Kiwi Biker WITHOUT him knowing, and he only found out when he said I had called him back in to get the jap parts fitted and have the inside plastic weld painted(which again our painter did on the spot).
So not only were we named well before the repair was complete, but it was all s/h knowledge from a nice guy that was probably just having a moan to his work colleagues/boss as he was late the day it occurred!
I now know Learoy is happier than happy and I felt he was from the start, as he was very understanding. When I drove him home the day it happened. He said "SHIT HAPPENS, but just wish it was not to me", so even though he was gutted, he still realises that he was extremely UNlucky and we have a very high standard, especially for the volume we do.
Our aim is to please, we want every customer to be happy, as you are all friends of ours and customer service is number 1. We have great deals and great brands, we put good safe rubber on bikes and sell quality gear and accessories to the motorcycling fraternity.
So please don't let this freak accident put you off, as the team at treads welcomes one and all!

I'd say that sh!t happens to everybody. If the shop is already fixing the stuff they broke then you are in no worse position than you were before, except the delay to work and gas costs. I'd ask for a box of beers and leave it at that.

Edit : just read the post above and seems fair to me.

Thanks for the reply Craig. Good to see a store manager taking the time to ensure things are put right, and for the response on this site.

I've always been happy with the service at CT and will continue to bring my bike to you.
