Check around the local real estate agents...your mate may have some unsolicited advertising material on its way.

ok here's a fun angle to look at it from. Let's pretend we're actually in here to help each other out from time to time. hell I dunno - call KB an online community of sorts... and now imagine is anyone in here actually had access to the information I wanted, and knowing me either from real life or as an online persona, trusted that I acvyually had a genuine reason for asking.

It's not so far fetched... really it isn't.

Just pretend for a moment that in the past I've gone out of my way to help others... because they needed help and it was the right thing to do, and perhaps now I'd a little of that assistance to come my way. It's a fun game - it really is! Strangely I've been to www.carjam.co.nz and verified the make model and year of the car. I'm not really sure how confirmation of the mileage helps for the query at hand, but if I missed something then by all means point is out.

Just to make perfectly clear what I'm after, and why...

A car with the registration plate ABL743 stopped and took photos of a house that a friend of mine lives in. I thought that was rather suspicious because it's not something I've personally seen the need to do and I struggle to understand why someone in an older car would want to do that unless they were up to no good.

So in the unlikely event of something bad happening... let's say stuff getting nicked for argument's sake, it'd be nice to have an initial idea of where the suspicious looking car lives.

So... if anyone is able to get me the name and address that ABL743 is registered to I'd be ever so grateful.

Sniffing at details leaves a trace.

So people who have access to details may not want to actually look them up. Their name gets stuck on the request. (The motor reg system logs this stuff).

So it's not unreasonable for someone to suggest you go to a post shop a do the same transaction anyone can do. And get your name stuck on the look-up.

It's not just about people being willing to help you out (or not).

OK - THAT makes perfect sense and totally changes my view on it. Ignorance is bliss and all they eh?

    Case closed.
