CB250N no spark. Help needed urgent!

Ok i have an 81 Cb250N
the ignition got smashed & the wires yanked out ....i have found a new ignition switch but it hasnt arrived yet, i kinda need to use the bike so i thought i would hotwire it...
i got the old ignition switch, figured out what wires need to be attached to what, i have lights on the dash & the bike turns over but i have no spark !!!
i have replaced the main fuse, all switches are in the right place, all wires joined properly, but no spark ... i know this because i took out a spark plug to confirm it ...

the bike was running perfectly before the ignition incident, now no spark

is there a fuse i am missing? or does something like this (wires touched incorrectly maybe?) blow up the sparking unit?

this is urgent please.. i had planned on using the bike to go to work tomorrow

ahhh well i found the problem

i have power right up to the coil, then nothing

must be cause & effect at play

is it still points?? or had they changed to cdi by then??
it might be something to do with the kill switch
