Hey, anyone wanna go for a cruisy ride from Aucks up North through the new tunnel, along the toll road, which is free for motorbikes?

I was thinking tomorrow afternoon.
Time to suit others who might be keen.

Maybe as far North as Wellsford or Warkworth, then back again.
Just to hear the sound of bikes roaring through the tunnels mostly.

I'm coming from South Auckland, so could meet some somewhere south, and others somewhere on the North Shore, Like possibly the BP Dairy Flat?

Post if you're interested and maybe we can set something up.

Well, I went to Wellsford via SH16.
What a great ride! The roads are awesome, some good corners, and not too much other traffic either.

I had one hairy moment when I was overtaking a car, and crossing back to the left side of the road at the very start of a yellow centre line, I was kind of hurrying to get back to the left before the no passing line started.
Anyway, I hit the Cat eye. Now I hit cateyes on the motorway all the time, so I don't know if they use bigger ones for the start of no passing lines, but man, it really threw my bike around. It nearly threw me off, it was quite weird. The bike got all twitchy, and tried to do a tank slapper. Fortunately I was gripping the bar quite tight, and held it straight, but it was a worrying moment.
Other than that the VTR behaved herself perfectly, and I was starting to get the hang of weighting the pegs and shifting my weight around.
Then I'd arrived.

The trip back, on SH1, and the new toll (free) road, was smooth, and boring.
But quicker.
