    Any computer geeks around

    Evening,

Does anyone know if it's possible to get VGA to RCA leads? (i.e. running a computer into a TV) I'm sure I've seen them, but every shop I ask at looks at me like I've just asked for a moonbeam and an octopus tentacle.

Any ideas where I can get one?

    TIA

Anything is proberley possible... best go to a dedicated computer store and see what is avaliable and check what connections you have on your TV... may be able to do it with a straight vga cable

If your TV does not take VGA then you will need a converter of some sort ie http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/499926...ct/View/XH8624, just as an example, there are other options around.

Most TVs have a VGA port or a . If not, a Super VHS port. Just look at the back of the TV to see what the options are. If you have HDMI, then this will do the job: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics...-202224060.htm

You don't have an S-Video output?

Anyway thanks to James, can't say I thought it was possible to do from VGA. Different type of signal.

There's no such thing as a VGA to RCA lead.

They use totally different signaling. You'd need some circuitry to convert from one format to the other.

If your video card has an S-Video port, you will be sweet.

It will be cheaper and easier than buying that converter thingy from dse that Jmnemonic (sp) mentioned.

You want an S-Video to RCA adaptor then just any old cable with a male and female RCA plugs on that will reach your tv.

Thanks all. I've run out of bling, so I can't bling you all

Yes, Laptop has S-video output and TV has S-Video imput. Much easier than messing around with multiple things.

Problem solved. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Excellent, glad we could help. And I'm relieved that what I thought was the case continues to be correct. Technology has a funny habit of leaping ahead.
