It doesn't achieve much directly, perhaps, but hopefully it helps spread the word.

Whatever the solution of a business problem may be, it cant come at a cost of personal freedom.
I gues people pushing this law are some greedy producers that cant affort their second island in the ocean.
In my opinion paying for art must be optional, support the artist you like, and dont support the one you dont feel like support even if you download their songs.

Besides I think copyright law mostly relate to such breaches that other people make money on. For example if someone downloads a video game and then burns it to multiple dvds and sells it, or some company is using someones drawing in their advertising compaign without authors permition, then thats a problem. But having ur internet cut off just cos u downloaded some song? BS!

ummm - isn't a song something that other people make money on - why is that different to a game?

They both take time and skill to develop, market etc etc etc

I think the point was more about the difference between copying multiple times for resale and copying for your own use, rather than any difference between games and music ...
