    Hell of a view.

A bloke from Aussie on the TL website posted this pic up last night taken from his front porch, nothing between his house and the fire but dry grass he said its now under control but way to close for comfort. In saying that i guess hes one of the lucky ones.Another Aussie member had the fire go round his house but destroyed houses on each side of him totally, the shed his bike was in ended up all buckled and the rear end of his TL melted in places.

In the Dom Post last week was a photo of a dude sitting on the burnt out remains of his hog.It was an amazing pic of him and some of the boys having a beer and to me summed up the Ozzie spirit.

We had a fire within 1100m of home the other week, too close for comfort. Choppers were gearing up and fuelling up just over the road and this was a fraction of what the Ockers faced/are facing but it still ruffled our feathers.

It made us think that photos, documents and the keys to the bikes should always be easily reached.

I noticed that many mourners at one of the funerals were wearing leather vests and HOG patches. You can always get another bike but............

I was sent to Sydney for my work once or twice. One time the Blue Mountains were on fire and I was staying fairly close. Went up and had a look.

Nothing like what the Aussies experience every year but the stillness, smoke and eeriness of the whole area was pretty uncomfortable.

I had first hand experience of an out-of-control stubble fire (not our fault) when I worked on a farm in my uni days...that was f-ing frightening, which puts these aussie fires squarely in the Can.Not.Comprehend file.

I try to avoid watching the news at the moment, frankly it upsets me far too much to see what has happened over there. If there are people that got a buzz on lighting the fires, I really hope they get charged with multipule counts of manslaughter (cant be murder eh?). They did not mean to kill anyone afterall.
