    Open Trackday

Folks Im looking to run an OPEN trackday at TAUPO track on 31st of March 2009
THIS IS FOR SERIOUS TRACKDAY ADDICTS.

    The deal is as follows.
    NUMBERS RESTRICTED TO 30 PEOPLE

You pay $150 for the day
For your money you get unlimited track time starting at 9.30am finishing at 4.30 ish
    Ambulance WILL be in attendance.
    There will be NO scrutineering
There will be no or possibly very limited marshalls. (im hoping to get someone on the track entry gate)
There WILL be a short riders briefing

Guys n gals this is how its goes. It it 100% up to us ALL to work together.
YOU need to ensure your machine is up to scratch because YOU are responsible for 29 other lives.
You all know whats expected of you from other track days.
Its up to YOU to ride in a reasonable manner.
    I don't wanna see hero's out there.
You see a bin you come in and report it RIGHT AWAY
No ifs no buts no maybees.
Noone back on track till bin is sorted.
Be it we help idiot jandlee push/trailer/van his bike home to the pits or be it we need ambo.
Mind you by restricting to experienced trackdayers then reduced risk of bins
The concept here is that EVERY person out there accepts responsibility for everyone else. We all work as a team to get up to 7 hours of track time.

To be clear because this is an OPEN trackday timing equipment is able to be used AND YOU ARE UNLIKELY TO HAVE INSURANCE COVER.
Ok Theres a thread in meetings and events--this IS happening

Open slather and no flaggies? How you gunna know about that bin waaay over the back?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Someone can usually be expected to come in and mention it!

I've been to a private trackday run like this, and it worked very well.

But it cannot work unless all attendees are level-headed and experienced track riders who understand that it's not the time or place to take full on race pace risks. Frosty's ideas on numbers seem about right.

Thats EXACTLY why its restricted to experienced trackdayers.
Im just floating an idea here mate. Im NOT in the near future going back to the stress of a full on track day.
Maybee people ARE prepared to pay the extra dollars for marshalls and RT's. Im just thinking for those who just wanna ride with no restrictions on the time on track this might be a great format

If what you are suggesting has been done before, and worked, that's great. I can see the attraction for skilled track junkies. Do you use the circulating riders to report a bin?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Mate with such small numbers it could be a case of if 4 or 5 race guys wanna have a "go" then hey go for it. -Talk to the other track dayers and give em a full lap head start.
Or maybee not --again get say 40 people keen -go for the format the majority wants to go for. the ten that arent keen dont come along
But yea Im thinking of the guys in the med/fast or fast group that know what theyre doing. The last thing I want is to even NEED to tell people about overtaking rules and looking back.

Fair call, if it's the right 4 or 5 guys. Riding at 'race pace' can be safer than just noodling around, anyhow. At least everyone's doing the same thing.

If some guys wanted to have a race, I'd rather let them have the track to themselves for the ten minutes it'd take.

I'm sure it'd get support frosty. It's just a matter of riders showing self restraint - it's an oppurtunity to go out and have fun within your limits, not pushing it balls to the wall with the hope of impressing everyone. As long as people keep their heads on their shoulders then it would turn out as a good event.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
