"I like to ride anyplace, anywhere, any time, any way!"![]()
ooooooh more excuses to ride?? what is this swarm thing?
sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me
Damnit, wish I'd read up on this earlier, would've ridden some.
Wade you broke down?
@Squiggles: Hahaha!
@gijoe: Ooo, I'll look into that.
yah, just at the top turning left towards gull, and it went no power, die. Switched to reserve (I WAS on normal too, like a smart person), and it wouldn't start. So I pushed it up the little bit of a hill to the gas station.
Tried to turn it on a few times, nothing.
Switched tap again, tried again, nothing.
Caught for a bit with choke, and was holding, at 5k rpm which should mean its fine for idle, but when changed to idle it just died. Then it wouldn't start again.
Filled up with $5 gas (Stupid pre-pay can go die), let it sit for a while, tried again with fuel tap in either position, still nothing. Tried a push start, and it just went 'brrrrrrrrrr' nothing, wouldn't catch.
Then texted squig and jaf, waiteed a while, txted again, sat the bike upright and turned it on and heard my fuel pump making its tut-tut-tut noise, when that stopped put on a bit of choke, tried ignition, and it started.
Albeit with only 3 cylinders from the sound it was making.
Then after a tiny bit of revving the 4th caught on, and was fine on the way home, except for one point where i heard popping noises. Was a bit worried so pulled over, took it easy on revs, no noises, brought it back up and still no popping noises, and none more the whole way home. Weird
See if filling it to the top sorts it, if it does I know what your problem is.![]()
that was an epic fail andrew! and why the hell did we call AA when a call to andrew would have been quicker and actually been able to fix the bike!?
I got home at 1am, and up at 7 to drop the bike off at the shop (currently have an SV for the day), and with a night out tonight will probably mean my saturday ride will be a saturday afternoon ride! haha
I just find it amusing the the gear lever waited until the furtherest point from auckland to go and fall off.
trace - i didn't think he would be able to fill her up, nor that he was at the bar by that point (with what turned out to be no suitable bolts to fix my gear lever)
but a couple of cable ties later at least i could upshift for the ride home
wtf wasn't anyone carrying cable ties?!
I DID have a tow rope if you didn't want to call teh AA![]()
hahaha... yes well next i come with you i think ill be hording cable ties, bolts, petrol and anything else i can fit in! haha
All good man, it was pretty damn funny to be honest! particularly the irony of it falling off at furtherest point - given that you had noticed it earlier in the day and did nothing about it - thats karma for not checking/fixing it when you noticed!
well it teaches me for not writing a note so that i might remember it; wasn't much to be done about it when i first noticed
Anything happening tonight? Weather is looking better
Yep come for a ride down South and I'll be thar![]()
