Something to be said for riding alone, blow some cobwebs out !
Something to be said for riding as a mob (cant think what right now)
Years ago it was cool to mob up with a bunch of harleys and blast all over the country in packs, but when i was reborn as such i found it more enjoyable to ride alone or with the Mrs on the back !
Lately i have taken to riding with a group again ! Started in group 3 (that lasted a day or so, then it was group 2 (for quite a number of days) But now i ride in group 1 (and it's just so much fun) Only had one lass fall off directly in front of me (i avoided her) and 1 or 2 moments of my own (stayed rubber side down)!
Ya soon find one or two in yr group ya seem to get along with (along quite quickly) and stick with them, ride side by side, take turns in the lead etc !
I like riding in groups again !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Me too, I simply don't ride like anyone else I've met, it's cool though, we start together and end up at the same place, I just don't see anyone on the ride itself but that's good isn't it, means I'm riding at my own pace......or no one likes me, not sure which. Either way riding Solo is where I'm most comfortable I guess, I ride in groups for the social aspect not the riding.
    Oh bugger

I enjoy riding with my husband but otherwise prefer to ride alone. Know my own limitations and prefer to ride within them rather than push myself or be left behind.

I often get called a wuss or people say "we never see you out on rides" but I loathe riding with groups and always have. I hate having to look out for what everyone else around me is doing - I'm fine if I am at the back, but I hate being in the middle of a large group of riders of varying abilities.

    All of the above
To do something well is so worth while that to die trying to it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of a life to do nothing with ones ability, for I feel life is not measured in achievement, not in years alone. BRUCE MCLAREN

I prefer groups. Heaps more fun. Heaps safer.
I do ride with just draco sometimes as well, and sometimes 1 or 2 mates (if I can borrow some off somebody)
And I sometimes go out on my own, usually at night, but it scares the shit outta me with the way I ride nowadays, heard of far to many dying while waiting for ambo's, or just not being found....

I do find it fascinating how many don't like groups, when we do group rides everyone rides at their own pace, and we wait and regroup every so often. The field usually gets fairly spread out fairly quickly so you don't bump into each other all the time. Really don't see any problem.....you sure you lot aren't just a bunch of anti-social bastards?

Depends on WHICH group you ride with. When I was a member of WIMA about 10 years ago I enjoyed their rides as there weren't the problems with having to prove yourself that you often get when men are involved! Many times I have come back from a ride with other groups and had to listen to piles of shit being spouted about "did you see me wheelie past that cop car (exaggerated for effect)" and "you think that was cool, did you see me pull out and overtake that Ferrari doing 200 clicks!" etc, etc.

One club I belong to had to take the unprecedented step of permanently banning a member because of his behaviour - overtaking on double yellow lines, on blind brows, in the path of oncoming traffic, etc - and despite ALWAYS being tackled about this at the next stop and being approached by heaps of club members about how dangerous his riding was, his response was "I'm a good rider, I know what I am doing". That may be true (but we all thought it was a load of shit), but when riding with a group of varying abilities, he had to allow for one of them NOT realising he wanted to push his way back in when an overtaking move went wrong. Add to that his propensity for self-medicating on various substances and you'll see why he was a danger to everyone around him.

Silly poll, no all of the above options.

Depends on how I feel at the time. I recently became confident enough to ride on my own in big rides without Phoenix leading, and discovered I really like it. However I also like going away on rides with him and a few others. I started off in a group, and as long as everyone is true to there own abilities then there is usually no probs.

Right now I prefer to ride alone. Im not doing enough riding at the moment to feel in the groove. And its nice to not be worried or answerable to other people.
But thats my current frame of mind.
