I've had my plain white XR1000 for a month now. It's my favourite piece of kit. Extremely comfortable (if you have the right shaped head of course), and really light after my HJC.

Funny how people really notice a white helmet.

Good to know about SHoei's crashworthiness.
I bought my Shoei at Motomail's sale the other year - $399 (?) + $86 or summat for the tinted visor. I was going to buy a plain black Raid like my wife's, but they were all gone. She was pissed off that mine has nice graphics (and coincidentally matches the bike!)
As for the visors, they suck compared to AGVs - they're dearer, and not as dark. I have a tinted and mirrored AGV visor ($64), so my wife wanted a similar one for her helmet. Bought the iridium one for some stupid price, and it's crap: cuts out hardly any glare, so she has to wear her tinted glasses underneath it. Maybe I'll buy her another 'dark' (huh!) tinted visor like mine.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I've had two XR1000 hats. Head butted the road with one.

I like them, but I also like my AGV.

There is a Shark as well which isn't as comfortable, I mainly use it on the moped. The visor is two years old and the fog proof coating still works fine.

The Shoei/Shark comparison isn't strictly relevant in this insstance as the Shark is a cheaper model. I'd be interested to try a top of the line Shark

After many months of helmet looking (it can not be "shopping" since I didn't buy) I have left Motomail with an HJC Carbon.
The Shoei Raid II was an option, but I am convinced that the field of view is quite a bit less than the HJC. I am a fan of using peripheral vision...
    Cheers Motomail!!

Yes it is... and it is SO useful.

I dont know what colours they come in but I would be surprised if white wasnt one of them. Give Motomart a call in Lower Hutt (Rutherford St) they will be able to tell you whats available and get it in for you to try before you buy. They're a good bunch!

    Scorpio,
Nice choice on the crest graphics! I had finally settled on just that helmet, and then went with a Suomy at the last min
I have had two of the RF1000's and love them both. But I really wanted to try out the Suomy for a change..just came today
The paint is second to none but should be for the $$.

Get the shoei whisper kit....you will love it soooo much more!
Havent heard about this but I will check it out!

I have 3 Arai's, 2 road, 1 dirt. The dirt one is great but the road ones fell apart in less than a year. Their visor removal system is like a rubics cube for a 2 year old. Basically Arai suck.

My Shoei still looks new after 2 years and the visor replacement is easy.

My Shoei rocks, got the wishper kit and the nose gaurd with a smoke visor. It is so quiet and comfortable, the Mrs want one as well in the pink flutter version. I took her to try on some helmets and it turns out the shoei fitted her best, she has good taste.
