    People are funny

Selling a bike on trademe you'd think that people would treat any legitimate questions as interest in your bike.

I've been looking at a CB350/4 on trademe, apparently it has low compression and the battery is stuffed. Via the questions I said "Surely it should start on the kick starter even if the batter is stuffed?" the reply was this - "gro up DORK.WOT AN ALTERNATORS GUNA HAV ENOUGH OMPHF 2 RUN A 4 CLY. .BAT IS DEAD FLAT,IF U BUY IT U KAN DO WOT EVA U WANT!!DRAG IT DOWN TH FKM ROAD B-HIND A KA ,O IT MIGHT GO THEN A DORK...NO MOR BULL SHIT WILL B ANSWERD.OK"

Surely when the selling of $1500 bike is in question here then you'd expect a serious answer. Now even though i'm pretty sure i want the bike i'm not sure I want this guy to have my 1500 bucks!

On another note - surely the alternator should have enough 'OMPHF' to run the bike sans a good battery?

if the bike has an alternator on it then it NEEDS some battery power before it will start charging and making 12 volts to run the bike....

A cage with a totally dead battery will not be able to be push or tow started...
unless the battery has enough power to make the alternator to work to put out 12 volts...

    Cool

Even so ..... why be abusive? If ya want to sell it
I had tons of emails asking real dumb questions from Trademe punters when selling my Hybrid car and old Ute
you just deal with it, no need to get abusive or cranky

This clown is obviously a six fingered banjo player.
I would move on and look for a 500/4 as a minimum if you are looking for a CB.
The 350/4 was fine but slow,it would cost little more to work on the larger engine models...imho.

It is little different with the Kawasaki Triples, a 350 cost as much as a 750 to rebuild/restore.

It's likely the seller's arithmetic is as bad as his english - offer him $500 and tell him that $500 is nearly $2000 more than $1500.

    This should work.

This guy is the dork. I push started my 350/4 successfully many times when the battery was dead (impoverished Uni student, couldn't afford new one) and always managed to get it to go. Mind you I was some what stronger, fitter, healthier and considerably younger then.........
I suspect the engine problems might be little understated.
I would agree with TLDV8, the 500 Four is a much better bike (at least it's not as slow!)

I smell a big fat rat. Something does not add up with this guy.

Maybe he has been hit up with heaps of questions 'cos the bike is so dodgy?

I might be tempted to move on. The holy grail is the CB750 from that time. The CB500 is a sweet bike as is the later 400/4.

Some left field choices maybe might be the CB 250 and 350 K series and the black bomber 450. My point is that there are plenty of great bikes from that era in good condition which don't have a dipstick trying to sell them.

BTW my 400/4 would kickstart with the faintest of battery but you did need something there.

This clown is clearly a fuckwit. Give Dave a call and tell him what you think of him - 027-298-5383.

I would never hand my money over to someone who replied to a question like he did. I hope you won't.

Grow up dork. What? An alternator is going to have enough oomph to run a four cylinder? The battery is dead flat, if you buy it you can do what ever you want!! Drag it down the fucken road behind a car, oh it might go then aye dork... no more bullshit will be answered. Ok, Dave.

I think that's what it's supposed to say. Maybe the $1300 reserve price is the cost for the 12-step program to get off the P?
