There was a programme on BBC1 last night that tested hand-held speed cameras as used by the police here. They showed a car recorded as doing 8m.p.h. despite the minor detail that it was standing still at the time.Better yet they clocked a brick wall at 4 m.p.h. Apparently this can be caused by a slight movement of the operator, unless he`s stood stock-still it wont read a true speed.

Of the car is a volvo - we used to have a race around the waterfront in Wellington and a Volvo that one it was known as the flying brick...

(a tribute to it graceful curves and beautiful lines... NOT!)

It does raise the question about similar issue here in NZ... is it the same equipment, or is even prone to the same issues?
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

It's a story as old as radar itself. Years ago a speed gun in the 'states checked a tree at 35 mph.
They use different gear here. But all laser/radar speed guns are capable of the same errors.
PS Those were the days. Seeing more makes than just Falcadores racing. Dinky little M3 Beemers cleaning everything up.
Jim Richards R30 Nissan sounding like the worlds fastest tractor.

Normally have Laser on a tripod, have tried to induce false reading when hand-held but no-go.

Ive mentioned it before but some of the radar used by the cops totally balls up if the air con in the car is going, something to do with the frequency of the fan. In particular I clocked a stop sign doing about 90kmph when the fan was going. This was a few years ago, might have fixed it now.

Doesn't match the fact that the 406 is a boring car with a boring reputation (looks OK though) and not too hot sales. If they really could do 406mph....................
It's a hard road boy.......so try not to land on it.
