Where do I get crash bungs from without paying a fortune? I have to put a few more on my sons FXR (front axle & rear swingarm) but without access to a lathe it's fairly hard to create some, any suggestions welcome!

Just thinking this through, if I can get some nylon barstock I can get them to work from there.

I think Acetal is the shit you want, mulfords have it in black and white 50mm is a good size

I'd pass on Acetal Personally, as its more prone to cracking chipping, more likely to shear off on you etc, ideally you just want some cheap Nylon, or UHMWPE (Um-fee - Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly-Ethylene) is the shit if you want to pay for it

I think acetal is the business. I had it on my old bike that hit the deck a lot, sometimes faster than I would have liked. I just transferred the same bits to the new bike. Lasts well.

Raided the Mulfords scrap bin, $5 for enough to make 6 sliders so I'm happy (my Scots ancestors are rubbing their hands and gloating), the material is UHMPE but I will bear in mind the acetal suggestions as anything soft gets eaten by the track surface. I'll try acetal on the GP125 when it gets rebuilt next year.

Are you sure it was Acetel? It is usually just the thing for sliders, chipping isn't really a characteristic, it machines well.

$5 from the scrap bin? Bargein!

You've used it and obviously it works, so it must be good

I just remember a guy at work making Acetal Ends for his Deadblow (because he was too cheap to go buy them) and the corners just chipped away when knocking down ally in the CNC, perhaps he picked up the wrong material...

I've found Acetal be the best out of the many different plastics I've tried.
UHMWPE is real 'stringy' when you machine it and I think it doesn't slide as well.
Not sure if there are different grades or types of acetal?

Acetal (= perspex) is quite stiff, mechanically strong but will shatter under impact.
UHMWPE is more like petrified chewing gum, bit soft for some engineering duties but very slippery and won't shatter.
Nylon is the other reasonably inexpensive option for sliders, some of the advantages of both the above.
