vtec's first Paeroa experience + camera as well

Well this is remarkably unspectacular. Carrying a couple of evulsion fractures in my wrist, and as it turns out riding a pretty slow bike (needs work) I finished not even in the top half of the field, didn't help that I was put dead last on the grid (no qualifying).

Anyway, got some cool footage, so check it out. If you can only watch one, watch the second one.
    First race here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLjzhBo0rbI
    Second race here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmbP072waFk

Bike was completely standard, took my number plate and sidestand off it the morning before. Was geared far too tall, and was way short on power/torque, but it turned like a dream and once the pads settled into the newish discs the brakes worked OK too. Was pretty happy with the feel from the Dunlop GPRA10 front and the Bridgestone BT090 that I scored off my spares bike. Supersoft suspension helped soak up the numerous and substantial bumps too.

Second race after a while the cam turns to focus on my throttle/brake hand and gives a cool sideways view giving perspective of the speed and the dancing that you have to do on the controls.

    Thanks heaps to -

Good on you for getting out there and giving it a shot anyway and sticking at it when things werent going your way.It would be hard enough learning your new bike let alone on a street circuit youve never ridden before. You will be the richer for the experience.Gary Pendleton at Dynotech in Tauranga is the man too talk to about your NC30,He raced 1 for 15yrs in the UK and is getting around 70rwhp out of his,You can contact him on 07 552 6701,He also has the latest twin drum dynajet dyno in his workshop and hes an awesome tuner

Thanks for the comments guys, don't think I'm going to be making this one a race bike, she's in really original condition and I don't want to destroy it, might have to get a more competitive starting ride, was just interested to see whether I could overcome the bikes shortcomings, maybe on Taupo short circuits but obviously not puke or Paeroa or dare I say Manfeild. Trying to keep my hand in racing as cheap as I can.

P.S. Thanks to the awesome photographers out there, I've rifled the shots of me and stuck them on here.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Great effort. Great vids. Loved the music, and the tacho reflection down the main straight was a neat "special effect"

Good shit man! I had a look around the pits but didn't find you. Ah well.

(Your racing prowess was discussed at some length on Monday morning; Dave seemed oddly hopeful that it'd been you causing that giant column of black smoke early on in the day.)
