Thanks Carla. I've never met Eugene, but the cape might offer slipstreaming effects, not to mention the ability to displace cagers in the way...

There's going to be 3 - 5 of us. We're not sure exactly when we'll leave. Probably won't be early morning as some of us have to do a half day at work first. We may not end up leaving until 1pm ish... or I might encourage them to feel "sick" on Friday morning....

Why is it that whenever someone mentions cape, everyone knows my name?? Am I that famous

I shall be back again with the cape, and on the XR with my stuff piled up on it.

And its not just a magic cape, its special rider safety gear, works a hell of a lot better than fluro. The cagers love it.

Ok - we are thinking of leaving about 10am now.... Bugger work (but not bugger a bit of a sleep in). Definitely want to take SH52 from Masterton up. Need to have a compulsory McDonalds breakfast.

Being a 'Duck newbie, can someone fill me in on the following:
Hot or cold showers? (Cold is ok with me)
    Cooking facilities?
    Does Waipawa have a supermarket?
Is it poor form to take bourbon in a plastic bottle? (since glass not allowed - according to the ticket. I might have to smash my headlight in then before entering).

Both, depending on what time you get to them

Bonfire, otherwise byo. They have a kitchen running 24/7 serving a range of food ranging from chips n burgers to decent cookd brekkies and meals. Very reasonably priced too.

There are all sorts of things bought in plastic bottles....
The bar prices are pretty good.
All you really need to bring is $ - plenty of food and drink onsite at reasonables prices.
Experience......something you get just after you needed it

At this stage I am working Friday, and as some ofd you know I work nightshift.....so the form for me is to leave early sat morning, or go straight from work friday night and go through the Rapa...If I leave Friday night I should probably get there 3 or 4 am when everyone is in a good state or asleep...Where are the KB crew pitching this year? same as last year?

Not sure what time the Otaki crew are leaving here but if ya thinking of coming up this side of the ranges i'll keep ya posted if ya like ! Though 52 is a brilliant ride if the conditions are good !

Ya might find a wizzard stoking a fire somewhere at that time of the morning !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

    Talking Lift needed by girlie

    Hey all

I'm over here from OZ & wanting to go to Cold Duck Rally. Have sooo been looking forward to Rallying in NZ.

I need a lift down from Waihi (will meet in auck or somewhere on the way if needed) & a tent to crash in (doesn't have to be by the same folk).
I've got bike gear & a swag, but a nice dry tent would be sweet.
I can help with travel cost or the plying of alkyhall ... or maybe just as a windbreak on the back of the bike... haha!

So if anyone can help please PM me... muchly appreciated

    cheers guys
    CC
