Taa - I'll quote that - I have obtained a video of the incident (thanks Brendon if you are reading) - just want to make sure they are OK before posting.

That video doesn't show Glenn Mettam who was on fire and rolling on the grass about 15m away toward the river. Pretty sickening as he was yelling `help me' and rolling around for about 15 seconds...
Motorbike racing aye? good times and bad times!

In his own words, he panicked...in hindsight he saw the humour in it. I was quite amazed that he had no burns through his leathers. The Ed guy just had a minor burn on his leg and arm.

There are some pretty amazing close up pictures out there of the whole thing taken from the outside of the track (and Glen with his arse on fire). Seeing those and the amount of fire makes you wonder how no one was hurt worse. I won't post them because I don't know who took them but they're bound to turn up on a photographer's website some time.

thats crazy shit..... i'm so glad they are both ok..... you dont think about your suit having to be fire retardant too....

mylaps has all the usual info on it too.... was a bit sad about the programme... a lot of sponsor information was left off, including mine and Frenchy's which doesnt help when your major sponsor makes it out to the event! One of the main reasons i raced was to get exposure for the sponsors and was a dissappointment when Paeroa organisers couldnt help with that by leaving it blank in the programme.....

Poor fella - can understanding him panicking - we were panicking too, trying to find some water in our esky under all the `accelerants' so we could help put him out ....

The big F3 grid (great to see) meant no room on that page for all the sponsors I guess? Unlike national rounds where there's heaps of room!

mmm. i was called down south that MNZ had been approached to make tank sliders mandatory on all 06 and 07 R6's. That was because they were loosing about 1 every weekend over in the states with them sliding, holing the tank and catching fire.

looks like this is the first time its happened over here. maybe i should get one of them sliders.

glad all the riders are OK

Funnily enough It was the Duc tank that was holed by the curb, not the R6es...
Thats the first time ive seen 5 or 6 bikes crash at the same place.

well considering half the F3 grid had their sponsors listed i dont think thats quite right.... plus Formula Pareoa was tiny and they left Frency's off too!
but yeah, i guess they didnt have an eagle eye like mine proof reading the programme
