    Tony's Paeroa Cherry Pop = Top 10

What an absolute f*#king hoot that weekend was.................

Turned up Sat arvo to find the pit buddies had secured me a great spot right next to the dummy grid..............thanks Frenchy, Nicki and Dodgey, great start.
Got set up and talked shit with all the regular hooligans and chilled over a few bevvies trying to predict what the weather would do Sunday.
Now I'm not a good camper and managed a solid 2hrs sleep in the van.......mozzies.
Finally decided to get out of the van to drizzle, but luckily the weather came good.........if not nearly too hot and muggy for this fella.

Went out for the "virgins" sighting laps then Formula Paeroa practice and was feeling really good about the track, much more enjoyable than Wanga's in my mind and I didn't feel worried about having haybales all around. The bike felt really good even though she was bucking and wheelying everywhere.

    "THE BET"
In another post Brian Woods( Teambwr47 ) had challenged me to a $10 bet for the fastest laptime for us newbies, so the gauntlet was thrown down for the day.

    Race 1
Was near the back of the pack on the grid due to not having raced there before and no qualifying sessions. I went out for the warm up lap and did a wheelie on the back straight which for some reason made my bike cut out............great!! Stuck at the hairpin trying to get it started i'm worried, she finally starts and i'm off like a cut cat, over the finish line they think i've been around then realise I haven't and run off the track with me doin 200 past the safety car trying to catch the pack to form up
Get a good start and hold my inside line into T1, set about catching the next bike, then the next and the next and come in with a 10th, STOKED!! Beat some Paeroa regulars and have a best of 49.something, enough to be faster than Brian's time in F2.

    King of the Streets Invitational.
Stoked again as I'm 20th out of the 35 fastest riders.
Get another good start and set about picking people off whenever I could, Frenchy comes round the outside off the start into T1, bugger! Get him back on the back straight and then its an RSV on the main straight.
i tag onto the back of Brian and am in a battle till the end, great fun passing then him outbraking me a few times, we come around for the last lap and I'm right on him at the hairpin, he gets slightly baukled coming out by the guy in front and I short shift to keep the front down and get him on the line by an ants tit
Also had a faster time so the $10 is mine at this stage

    Race 2
    What a cracker!!!!!
Another decent start and Frenchy does it again with the outside shit I get him pretty quickley and its back to business, this track is so much fun, wheelying down the front straight cause I can't keep the front down, skimming the haybales through the kink at 230kms then braking while trying to stop the rear coming round to say hello, over the hill then onto the back straight wheel lifting again then braking over the intersection and the rear kicks into the air while setting up for the right kink before the hairpin..................AWESOME!!!
I am in a 4 bike freight train for most of it trying to get past Rhys, he manages to get ahead of Craig Frethey so he becomes my target, we were all very evenly paced but again on the last lap coming out of the hairpin Craig has a look over his shoulder which is enough for me to gas past over the line to take his spot.
    9th with a best of 48.481

I was buggered after that and elated with how the day had gone, after cooling down a beer was in order then off to check the times.......................................Brian has done a 48.475
Done by 6 thousandth's of a second, but its bloody good, I go and deliver the $10 and the look on Brians face is priceless as I tell him the times, great stuff.

Great weekend, great company, great racing.

Have to say a special thanks to Carol my very loving wife, would have been no fun without you helping and being my brolly dolley. Thanks to Frenchy, Nicki and Dodgey Matt too, awesome fun guys.
Once again the Metzelers were fantastic and the new FFM helmet was really nice too.

Scracha took a pic which to me shows the atmosphere perfectly. And makes me look good too
