    Dave Hiscock

An article in a motorcycle mag got me thinking about this Kiwi bloke who used to race. Both Dave and his brother Neville (died 83') had success during the early 1980's here and overseas.
Last September, I attended a funeral in Wellington and meet up with Daves sister Merle and brother Bruce. Merle came over to me, she thought I was her cousin that she hadn't seen in years, alas, that would be my father not me.

Here are some statistics on Dave Hiscock.

    Castrol 6 Hour 1980

Suzuki had a very strong challenger to the CB1100R in the form of the GSX1100, the strongest team had to be Alan Hales/Dave Hiscock

    1981
Dave Hiscock rode the McIntosh GS1000 at Wanganui and had two wins in front of 12,000 spectators.
Lyall Bay Street Circuit in Wellington he picked up a couple more first placings on the GS1000.

    1982

    David Hiscock
1st Australian Swann International Series (Suzuki)
    3rd F1-TT World R/Racing Championship (Suzuki)
3rd TT Formula One / Isle of Man (Suzuki)
9th Classic TT / Isle of Man (Suzuki)
Hiscock had wins at Teretonga and Levels during the 81’/82’ season.
He had a win at Bay Park the same year.
He rode a Suzuki Katana GSX1100 at Manfeild and gain his second NZ title

    1983
    David Hiscock
8th TT Formula One / Isle of Man (Suzuki)

    1983
    Neville Hiscock
Killed in race crash at Kyalami, South Africa

And a video on the 1980' Castrol 6 hour (featuring Hiscock)
Note: the first set of leathers you see look familiar!!

Yeah Loved Dave as well. I remember us all looking and dressing like that lot. And look... there's Vince Sharpe. A younger, fuller head of hair Vince Sharpe.

Cool vid and it brings back some memories. And look at the crowd.

Funny that - was talking on Sunday with the Fremantle Ulysses Club president about Dave and Neville Hiscock (and Crosby). He met Dave at the IOM where he was racing in the 350 and F1 TT's - (that's why we don't mind riding with Fremantle Ulysses - with Bill leading, we don't hang around!) - reckoned he was a funny bugger. We were wondering, what happened to Dave and what's he doing these days?

Ha ha, me too. ROFL with Steve Dundon with "hair". Alan Collison was a very serious contender in those days for what was basically a part timer. Grew up with Jason McEwen's dad. I blame him for my still owning a bike. Just joking Kerry!! Bring back the old days

I saw Allan Collinson riding a kitted Bighorn Kawasaki at either Wanganui or Onekawa. Convinced myself that if I got one of those I could be that fast too. Turned out I was very much mistaken...
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Neville gets a mention in this video.
Go your own way...the best song you could have for a bike vid.

Dave Hiscock was famous for his string of wins at the Six Hour with Neil Chivas and he had already won in 78 and 79 before your statistics of 1980 start.

His record in NZ was fantastic but he never quite matched Croz overseas.

He was definitely one of the best NZ riders of his era.
    Cheers
