Dang, theres some real nice shots on here!
Some people are only alive because it is illegal to shoot them.
I've actually seen a whole bunch of pics of me racing at Paeroa this year ..... well, not actually racing, but I was sittin on the tarmic on fire.
Yep .... that was me. Poor old Duc is cooked up pretty bad and judging by the all the flames I was pretty lucky not to get burnt more. Boots and gloves are fucked, legs on my leathers need restitching.
All in all ....... it just sucked. Bikes went down infront of me and that was that. One of the other bikes footpegs punched a hole in my carbon fibre tank and it blew the top clean off ... left the base still attached to the airbox.
Oh well ........ bit of work ahead.
Mate! - We're all just glad you are still with us to carry on. Best of luck with it.
Take some photos of it now if you can and I'd love to run some 'before and afters' on the KR site - if you like.
I suspect a lot of us would be interested to see. A genuine phoenix rising story!
Yeah, I can do that, and thanks for the kind words.
Have to admit though, I was pretty oblivious to all the flames behind and around me. My attention was focused on dousing the flames on my legs and boots, and in that regard I'm pretty glad our leathers are actually leather and not that synthetic shit.
The burns I got are pretty minor thanks to good gear.
What really sucked was that that was only the second time I'd raced that bike ....... first time was last Nov at Taupo. The new chain broke that time and destroyed the tranny !!!!!!
At least the stripping and rebuilding proceedure is still fresh in my mind !!
