Could have thought of better examples... 280mph literbikes cutting family cars in half, harley riders who are in gangs selling drugs... But hey, road courtesy is pretty up there, too...

I don't think KB has enough free space for the examples that me and other KB members could provide about inconsiderate riding and bikers taking unnecessary risks. Regardless of how many examples I have, people don't like hearing that they ride like irresponsible fuckwits.

I'm pointing out that I've had a gutsful of bikers bitching about their reputation being undeserved because they apparently never do anything wrong. We deserve everything we get if we stand aside and let some riders ruin the way the rest of us are perceived. We can't change the perception if we refuse to acknowledge we're doing anything wrong or let someone else know that they're being a dickhead.

Edit: I should add that ignorance is bliss and people don't care about what doesn't affect them and what they can't see. We all know gangs can be dodgey (one of your "proper" examples) but if they're not selling drugs to anyone I know, why do I care? I have far more experience with I can see and what has an impact on my life, such as the inconsiderate bastard that hasn't mastered common courtesy.

Lol, I can see you know me well. Like harleys, nothing agaisnt the riders, but we're talking about steriotyping groups here, aren't we? Sportsbike riders get the rep of being nutters on the road, harleys of being dodgy (c'mon, don't be ignorant, the public perception of a "tough biker gang dude" is described as riding a "harley"... Not sure why you think I'm being anal about female riders... :/ But to answer your question... Meh, kindof. Booring, but can't complain and I'm sitting here casting 10c coins so there you go

Don't mean to be a dick about it but, this really seams like a big deal about nothing and it seems comical to me

its good to be right but injured...overtaking in such a situation(ie where the overtakee has an opportunity to turn right) is asking for trouble

I see what you're saying but it's pushing shit uphill trying to clean up all the bike riders in the country to stop a colective reputation bikers get. That's like doing the same thing for sportscar drivers IMO. Most get them because they enjoy the experience and the vehicle but a lot buy them because of the easy speed and power and use them on the road as you would expect them to. I'm sure every time most people see a WRX STi on mags driving around people assume "boy racer". Just be glad cops aren't clamping with vigelance every sporty looking bike they see around at night. I am not responsible for what the next biker does, just because I use the same mode of transport...

The public see us en mass as a group and make little distinction other than sports or cruiser riders and them some would not know the difference.

Bikers see themselves as indaviduals. That may be an over generalisation but I think most would agree to some extent with that. As such we pretty much don't offer too much in the way of criticism of how other people ride other than if it is a danger to other riders as on a group ride some will suggest tha tthey improve or fuck off if they don't ride in safe manner. Another generalsation yes but again fair description I think of how we see ourselves. As indaviduals and as a biker gets older they realise their reaction times etc slow down and as such in most cases impose a safer riding level than they did when younger. But what you need to acknowledge is the very reason some bikers ride is to experiance the thrill of going to the edge. Not a wise thing but some bikers need this. The trick is knowing when this is safe and when not or safest as against not.

I'm not in disagreement with you but what you are asking is a pipe dream. It would be nice but for this to happen there would be no bikers at all.

You just dont get it do ya?

She is not campagning here, merely pointing out a fact of life. And rightfully so. Subaru drivers have small dicks, yet another fact.

And Sports bike riders are so very much Patrik Furstenhoff copy cats. You don't quite see where I'm going or are just ignoring it for a chance to vent some sarcyness... Either way, ohwell...

The last lot of dick-heads on bikes on a run last weekend included a Buell, a BMW, a Ninja, a Yamaha Dragstar (or similar Yamaha cruiser) and a Gixxer-type bike.

So all sorts of riding types have twats advertising themselves badly to the public ...
