    Replace or repaint?

which is easier/ cheaper, to replace or repaint fairings?
The fairings on my bike are in perfect condition, I just want to change the colour, and am wondering the costs of replacing vs repainting. I I replace, I can MAYBE sell the old ones, to offset some of the cost, but if I repaint, how much is it going to cost, and the transfer/sticker thingees (factory ones) will need to come of first, and that would probably add to the cost due to labour etc, any thoughts?

My only thought is that NOMIS may be keen to buy your fairings if you end up taking that road... Sorry I can't help further!

Assuming they available you can buy replacement bodywork kits out of China for around $850.00,However quality and fitting vary from suppliers.A mate of mine bought a set from there for an 07 CBR 600 and they were bloody well made and had an awesome paint finish,They took a bit of fitting but it was achievable and for the money as a refinisher myself I had too wonder as to whether they had bothered with the full system or as in some cases ive noticed they dont etch prime or prime the product which is ok provided you never have occasion to have them touched up as it can turn into a nightmare. You could probably get them refinished and stickered locally for about the same money but you would need to find a local refinisher you can trust to do the job properly. The other thing you need too be aware of is freight if you decide to get someone out of your region to do them. The last set of bodywork I sent to Dunedin (Jan this year)it was $100.00 1 way.Cheers and good luck

You could offset some of the cost by removing stickers and rubbing the body work down yourself. Talk to your painter first so you are fully aware of what they would expect - ie what grit paper to rub it down to etc.

Mate, up here in Auckland we have 'The Plastic Repair Company'. If you take the panels off yourself, they are pretty good value for money. There must be something similar, if not the same, way down South?

how does one go about wrapping bits in sign vinyl hen it comes to funky shapes etc on the tank and fairings? any rough Idea of cost? sounds as though it would look a little rough, or does it look quite good?
