    Well you say that they 'gave' you something but it was actually employers who pay for it. Easy to give people stuff when you don't actually pay for it. Having said that though ... I do enjoy my extra week.

    Not exactly...I have 12 weeks leave throughout the year...only 4 of it is paid, the rest is unpaid.
    The point is, labour gave everyone 4 weeks leave. I already had that, but because they didn't state that it was an extra week's leave, I lost my long service leave.
    BTW, my employer is the government....

    Yep. It's all in the wording:
    "Four weeks leave after x years service" and you may miss out.
    "An additional week's leave after x years service" and you're fine.
    Grow older but never grow up
