Anyone know of a fish n chip shop......

in Kawhia. I'm supposed to be organising a ride for the local club and figured if there was one worth going to it was as good an excuse as any. If there's a decent pub there, even better.

There is a pub in Kawhia and a chipshop/takeaway on the waterfront. Kawhia is quite nice but the road in there is a bit iffy. You'd think that a road with no straights at all for around 40km would be wonderful, but the road is very bumpy with a fair bit of pea gravel and heaps of blind bends. We did it as the last leg of the Rusty Nuts 1000miles in 24 hour ride 2 years ago and it wasn't very pleasant after having done about 1300 k's already! I'd sooner go to Raglan, but best of luck!

There nothing wrong with the Kawhia road,I've done it hundreds of times,it's a roller coaster, bloody good fun. It's your bike that's wrong,if you want to ride rough back country roads get a more suitable bike,an adventure bike will turn that road into one of the best you've ridden.I wouldn't rate the takeaway shop that high, but it's somewhere to eat in Kawhia.

No argument as to poor choice of bike...

A Blackbird is not a good machine for that road. I guess on the upside, the risk of getting nicked for speeding is low

I might have been somewhat influenced by being in severe pain fromthe distance already covered when i went down there

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll leave that for the day the kat morphs into a comfortable tourer.
